What do we expect from Liam this Year?
Gigs (Fingers crossed), New Single or possibly a Live DVD?
Be nice to have something to look forward to

Take the year off, do some writing, get in shape, see a vocal coach, come back mad fer it in 2022 with a new album and tour all being well.
Be a miracle if there are any gigs this year.

If Liam even manages to finish off his third album this year I doubt very much that it won't be released until at least the end of the year or early next year even. As for any gigs I doubt there will be any this year with the way things are at the moment.

He should fuck off out the country and do some gigs where there is no lock down. Then sell the live stream back here.

He should spend the year writing and recording his new album, no rush, just enjoying the process and trying to make the best album possible.

He would have an interesting time spending the year in China no doubt ... but currently even Auckland, New Zealand has live music limitations and the only cities allowing unrestricted indoor events that I know of as of January 2021 are in China and Taiwan.

There aren't any live music restrictions in New Zealand ... ? It's life as normal here at the moment.

Good to hear. Had heard Auckland was going back into Level 3 after more cases but I guess it hasn't actually happened. Hope it stays that way. Requiring travel quarantine is really smart and could keep the new variants out.

Luckily they managed to contain that outbreak and there's been no community transmission since then.
I'm sure it'll happen though, this new super contagious strain is popping up with returning citizens in our managed isolation facilities which isn't good ...

Don't want to derail this thread too much, but I'm rooting for you guys because you have done such an amazing job keeping infections low and with vaccination now starting you really have as good a shot as any country on earth of essentially defeating Covid-19 (sayonara!) in the coming months. Liam will no doubt be over there again soon, although probably not until he and the band and entourage can avoid isolation, which I'm not too sure would go over well ...

I would be very surprised if Liam even thinks about doing any over seas gigs this year let alone actually doing any. I think he'll just concentrate on getting his third album finished when ever he can. But not at the moment obviously.

I hope the situation improves in the UK soon as well π

Spend the year getting fit and trying to mend his relationship with his brother. While I agree with you that Liam should try to mend his relationship with Noel, it would depend on if Noel would actually want to mend his relationship with Liam as well.

I do not think we'll be able to go to a gig anytime soon in 2021, at least not in Europe and absolutely not befoe the second half of the year.
I have 4 postponed Weller gigs in April, but I'm not holding my breath it will happen. I don't mind if these gigs will be postponed again or the worst case, it gets cancelled. Pity, but I take safety for myself, others and the bands.
Also UK government has refused to take an offer from EU for the bands/artists from UK touring without a visa in mainlands of Europe. Shame, shame, shame!

But this is the Tories all over I'm afraid.

The offer the EU put forward for touring artsists seemed very generous given the circumstances IMO.
I think the government are so fixated on immigration that they turned it down.
Hopefully we get a Conservative U-turn before gigs return and all this can be put behind us.

I wouldn't hold your breath about a government u-turn over this especially now that the UK have left the EU. Mind you, that said this useless government have so many u- turns that it's hard to keep up.

I suspect as time passes there will be some tweaks to the agreements in place and I'd expect the industry to do all it can to put pressure on the government.
