Like it or not let’s all buy it 99p out now for charity 👍🏻 After hearing this again today. It is one of his best vocals in a long time. Very emotional and exactly what we need as a nation right now with the amount of personal tragedies and fed up world we are now in. Chooked me up...and that hasn't happened since hearing Once waaaaaay back when.... EDIT - OK just heard the live version f ck me why didn't they release that..love it

Didn't listen to any of the snippets before now. It sounded great live (aswell as Hello!). Have a slight problem with some of the chorus, but it's not any different to how I feel about most of WMWN to be honest. A good one for charity.

NME review
LG's Christmas single is a tender tune about love triumphing in times of crisis, ideally rolled out on the Hootenanny for an 11pm tearjerker after a few eggnogs.
“‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ is an instant classic that is perfect for this time of year,” Liam Gallagher says of his new song, modest as ever. Of course, the self-confidence on show here isn’t surprising – it’s comforting, even. But there’s a specific kind of pressure that comes with writing a Christmas song, and a terrible festive flop sticks out in a discography like the sorest of thumbs. It’s a bold claim, then, even for LG.
Though you might expect the Oasis man to pen a rowdy ode to the booze-fuelled chaos of Christmas, ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ is the polar opposite – a delicate, charming, perfectly composed ballad about love triumphing in times of crisis. “What are you dreaming of?” he sings in its chorus over soaring strings and piano. “Is it the kind of love that will be there when the world is at its worst?” At the end of a year ravaged by rarely-seen trauma, it’s a gorgeous (gin and) tonic delivered with a straight face and an open heart.
Gallagher’s co-writer Simon Aldred has said the song’s genesis came from the pair speaking “about how there weren’t enough songs of hope,” and that the song, originally not a festive tune, became one after Liam said he could “see New York shop windows, and snow outside” and that the song “reminds [him] of being a kid at Christmas when life was normal”. It’s a touching attempt to grasp at something resembling normality as we enter a far-from-normal Christmas period.
More suitable for the 6pm, post-10th mince pie crash than a boozy Christmas Eve, ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ is filled with melancholic minor chords and shows a new side to Gallagher’s voice, delivering a pitch-perfect slow-dance-worthy ballad. It’ll be a crime if he’s not rolled out on Jools’ Hootenanny for an 11pm tearjerker after a few eggnogs, beckoning us out of 2020 with a song of love and hope for the future. Yes, this is Liam Gallagher we’re still talking about. It seems 2020 has made even him get a little sentimental.
4/5

Wait, is that really a live performance? Wow. I'm not the kind of people who throw a "best vocals since 1999" comment but... wow. As for the song itself: lovely little tune. Of course it could've been bigger in a Champagne Supernova way, but I like the intimate mood of the song. Now I'm wondering how will the demo sound like, this one is already so stripped down that it feels like a demo.

Although people don’t want to believe this for whatever reason, Liam directly said that the version played on Radio 2 was from the Thames gig, which make a whole lot of sense. It was recorded live but already mixed to sound as great as possible. And it does.

The host said it was recorded for a special radio 2 session, not moi Of course it wasn't "just recorded", it was mixed etc.. I don't know if he recorded it on a boat, on a rooftop, on the moon or in his bathroom, does it matter? All I know is that TO ME it sounds great.

Anyway, have a good day x Look, no interest whatsoever in any stupid forum fights. Was trying to offer information that I found interesting and others might be interested in as well (as that is generally what forums are for.) Some people genuinely do care where and when a recording was made, and a lot of people might like to know this recording was the Thames gig because they might want to buy a ticket if they didn't already. In fact Liam took a moment to promote the gig after mentioning it. That was my thought. No harm meant to anyone. And I wasn't the one who got personal. I'll be on my way. x

For the record, I think it's not a bad song. If we're comparing with Wandering Star then I don't think it comes near but its OK nonetheless.
However, I can't help but laugh at how contradictory Liam is bringing out songs like this. He makes out he's 'Mr Rock n Roll', says he's going 'bring out a punk album' and then brings out a song like this which would clearly not be out of place if some whopper like Capaldi or Olly Murs sang it.
Liam is a complete corporate man these days - whether you choose to admit it or not - and he's puppet for Warner.
In terms of music, Noel is the real rebel as he answers to no one else with owning his own label and puts out whatever music he wants. There's not a chance Warner would let him put out a punk album.

I'll download the live performance on Tubidy later as I can't stand the radio anymore so I never listen to it. Anyway, I've listened to the song a few times more and I find it quite haunting to be honest. And, good to see the NME giving it a good review. In general though I don't take much notice of what critics say.

Yes he has been talking about doing a punk album, but he has also been talking about wanting to do a Christmas song for some time. Noel vs Liam stuff is pointless IMO. They have their own paths in music industry now.

They have their own paths in music industry now. Too right. While they brought the best out in each other, their interests were always slightly different, and now that’s what we’re getting. Its like Wings vs Plastic Ono Band; former bandmates, but now they just occupy different niches in the music world. Which is fine by me.

I prefer that 'live' take, it's an ok song and nice thing to do for charity. I'm glad it's a stand-alone thing and not going to be on the next album.

Yeah I prefer the live version for sure. Nice tune
The actual version I can’t stand the horn at the start and just I don’t know. Sounds too much like a Bing Crosby song or something
The live version sounds much better. Looking forward to seeing him on Johnathan Ross now

He was already asked on some interview about why he didn’t release that punk album like he said. Liam replied that he always go to the studio w an intent to record punk songs but then a song like Once come along and he just can’t turn down such a good song just because it’s not punk enough. There goes punk album. I.e. concept of the albums are less important to him than songs. That’s all. But don’t lose hope. His middle life crisis isn’t far now, maybe he’ll release a rap album or something in the future
