Here's the thread about the songs that move you the most, the ones that (almost) bring a tear in your eye.
An artist that always moved me a lot is Mark Linkous. From his discography, I'd maybe pick "Sea of Teeth". The production breathes melancholy, the piano is just gorgeous, it's perfect:
Françoise Hardy is one of my favourite french artists. My favourite song of hers is also the one that moves me the most: "La Question". The arrangements are on point, but it's the lyrics that definitely makes it a gorgeous song: "Tu es le sang de ma blessure; tu es le feu de ma brûlure; tu es ma question sans réponse; mon cri muet et mon silence".
Then, I have to pick a few classical pieces
I can't tell how much I love the first part of the Gymnopedies by Erik Satie. It's melancholy at it's finest.

Measuring by tear production alone... maybe a bit clichéd but god damn this one is up there for sure.
And while we're at it, she can also hit you in the feels with something slightly more optimistic!

Some of my favourite lyrics ever, can still remember the first time I heard it and was completely blown away
Reflective, chilled, quite sad yet a bit hopeful One of those songs that take me somehwere else, and I've shed a few tears to it
It's the combo between the song and the video, I'm a simple soul
The best song on such a heartfelt record, makes me feel sad and nostalgic for a story I've never lived
This moves me but in a good way, it's such a dreamy track, I get chills every time the guitar kicks in at 3.34
I've never been through anything like this yet it's like I can perfectly picture what Bono's singing "And the storm blows up in her eyes She will suffer the needle chill She's running to stand still" Fuck's sake doesn't get much better than this

I've never cried or even got a lump in my throat (I don't think) to a piece of music. I feel a bit jealous of those who do. But then I've never cried at a movie or television show, or piece of literature either. In my current material form I'm not a very emotional guy; but I'm led to believe that can change as one gets older...
My emotional connection to music is entriely through goosebumps and that affectionate feeling you get for something where it feels like your heart is expanding. And this track is sure to induce that effect in me almost any time I hear it:
If I have a funeral, and you still get three songs, I want this to be one of mine. (For posterity, if the link fails for some reason, it's 'Leaving Hogwarts' by the master John Williams.)

Soundtracks! Yeah, I didn't think of that. Including those, then I think this would have to be up there. Genuinely struggle to listen to it due to all the horrible, wonderful nostalgic feelings it bubbles out of me:

For me it would be that song, even before Chris Cornell's tragic end.

Damien Rice - Accidental Babies
this is one of my favorite live versions of this song, from El Rey Teather in 2006, after which comes the best Damien Rice quote ever: "You guys all need therapy 'cos I'm just a depressing fucker and you're enjoying it"
