Paul McCartney once called it his favourite song. What else to say about the track ? Released as a B-side to "Wouldn't It Be Nice" in the States but as a A-side in Europe, the song also appeared in one of the most acclaimed albums of the all the time "Pet Sounds". What are your opinions/feelings on the song ?

It's alright enough, don't really see why people go mad over it

Oh hey, now we're in an era of music I know! I spent most of the 90s listening to oldies radio in the US, so this is right up my alley. (I came to Oasis later.)
Anyway, my personal Beach Boys hierarchy goes something like Tier One: Good Vibrations, Tier Two: about fifteen other songs, including this one. It's a good one! Those harmonies, man.

I find it totally timeless myself. Most of the 60's classics still sound fresh imo. It's the opposite for the 80's, with some of the biggest hits of the era being probably very modern at the time, but now sounding totally dated (the drums especially, most of the time).

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve never quite enjoyed pet sounds or The Beach Boys in general. I appreciate the production on some songs, they were obviously very talented, but I always thought they sounded like a cheap version of the Beatles.

Despite the fact they influenced each other a lot, I think there's a difference between The Beatles and The Beach Boys. 2nz called it "celestial" and I think it's a good way to describe The Beach Boys music. The Beatles music is more "down to earth" in a way, it sounds less otherwordly than Beach Boys (but it's not less gorgeous, obviously).

Yeah, the way people talk about The Beach Boys as this incredible sonic force of the sixties feels weird when I listen to them. I'm sure at the time this track was impressive but five decades on I don't think it really separates itself from the time it was written in in the way that a lot of The Beatles' or Bob Dylan's stuff does. It's not bad, but if this song just played in the middle of some random "Forgotten Sixties Pop" playlist, it wouldn't stand out much for me.

Can we just agree this song is much better? One of the most beautiful songs on the album, and that says a lot.
