I cherish ying and yang threads. So here we are.
Have to give a think about this.

Mmh, I think Acquiesce may be slightly overrated, great track but the rockers on WTSMG were far superior
Same for Talk Tonight, it's a lovely soulful tune, but Noel's written many better ballads imo

I'm not too sure one this but maybe Wonderwall or maybe that's an obvious one. It's a good song but it's not their best. Stand By Me is probably over loved. I've never been a big fan of the song but people seem to like it judging from it's streaming plays.

Slide Away, Gas Panic, and Turn up the Sun.
I do like the first two, I just don't love them in the way that I do with songs like Supersonic or The Masterplan.

Yeah, I agree with you about Slide Away. It's a good song but I've never thought it was as good as some of the other songs on Definitely Maybe.

Its a matter of opinion of course, but Id maybe say Half The World Away?
I like it quite a lot, but don’t find it to be an utterly flawless classic like some say it is.

1+ for Slide Away...A really good song, but I've never loved it as much as other fans.

Really surprised for all the mentions of Slide Away - that’s my favorite song ever (not just by Oasis).
Heh I guess I’m proving that it is overloved lol.

The studio recording of acquiesce is utterly dreadful. If it wasn't for the live performances of it, I would probably dislike the song

Stay Young - This is it. Bang average and the band's worst original song at time of release. It may as well be all vocal melody and lead guitar as the rhythm guitar, drums, bass and production are simply unacceptable. Magic Pie (the song that knocked it off Be Here Now) is much better.
Stand By Me/Don't Go Away/All Around the World - Good songs but they're clearly not to the same standard as the highlights on Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory?. Grossly overblown, horribly produced, sappy lyrics... I could go on.
Little By Little, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Lyla - Big singles. Sing-along stuff for the casuals. Appropriately rated on these forums tbf.
Be Here Now, Heathen Chemistry, Don't Believe the Truth Era B-sides - Going Nowhere aside, there's nothing above average here. Unless your a hardcore fan of the band I wouldn't waste your time searching any of these songs out.
The Masterplan - Great song no doubt but I don't think it'd make my top 25 favourite songs by the band. Maybe it's just not my style.

Whatever I think is another one. It's a good song but I've never rated it as high as some of the other Oasis singles. The song I often skip when I'm listening to some of my Oasis play lists when I'm streaming music on Amazon music.

Acquiesce..... good song, but dare I say it, Noel’s vocal (which I never have a problem with) is in foghorn mode ala Force On Nature. Does ruin it somewhat for me.

At the end of the day, the appraisal of music is subjective....One mans junk is another mans treasure, and to me its always appealing to learn why someone likes something more than i do.

At the end of the day, the appraisal of music is subjective....One mans junk is another mans treasure, and to me its always appealing to learn why someone likes something more than i do. It's got some of Noel's more melancholic lyrics, they're about quite desperately wanting to escape but there's still a bit of light left in there at the end of the chorus, and the melody, which already stands out on its own (that bridge is a lesson in pop songwriting), manages to make them lighter, so that you always get that underlying sense of hope even when the words themselves are quite heavy It just conveys all the things I love about his songwriting

In terms of "beloved songs I'm just not nearly as impressed with as other people," the list goes something like:
Slide Away Stand By Me Don't Look Back in Anger - I just don't like Noel's singing here, or really on any song until Heathen Chemistry or thereabouts. Talk Tonight - In particular, I'm a real hard sell on Noel-sung ballads, and this one sounds so dreary.

I honestly never listen to it, it wouldn't be anywhere near my Top 20 favourite Oasis tunes of all time. I also can't stand SCYHO. I find it so cringey!

Tbh a lot of the Noel sung ballady stuff from the 90s and early 2000s never really resonated much with me.
Prefer The Fame, Where Did It All Go Wrong, Part Of The Queue, Little By Little esque tunes when song by him. (Not to mention DLBIA and The Masterplan obviously)
Talk Tonight and Going Nowhere I never listen to either along with HTWA.

I am sure I have expressed this somewhere else, but for me I think Songbird is over loved. I remember at the time of release it was promoted as Liam's redemption after Little James I guess. It's not an awful tune, but it ended up as a single seems overzealous to me. It's my least favourite Oasis UK single, bar She Is Love.
Another one I don't get the love for is Idler's Dream.

The only 90's single I would maybe call overloved is "Don't Go Away". It's a bit too syrupy, but at least the songwriting is stronger than a song like SCYHO for example.

Don’t Look Back In Anger for me.
Isn’t even in my top 30 Oasis tunes. It’s decent, very anthemic , great live but people talk like it’s their best ever song! It isn’t fit to lace Live Forever or Some Might Says boots in my opinion

Live Forever is a great tune but I've never quite got why it always wins the fan votes so comfortably.
