Albums 4 and 5 are easily the most debated of the Oasis albums. They came at a turbulent time for the band and there was such a period of uncertainty. A lot of people see Heathen Chemistry as the worst Oasis album (For me, it is DOYS) and people also see SOTSOG as extremely underrated. Critically, however, it was panned.
Imagine the two were combined. I have created a playlist which combines the best of these two albums. The singles from HC are phenomenal and the skeleton of SOTSOG is world class. Noel was depressed and suffering with panic attacks and going cold turkey. There was a bit of a moody hangover on HC with some depressive tunes and sounds, as well as some quite similar sounds from SOTSOG.
So, without further ado, I present to you:
Standing On the Shoulder of Heathen Chemists
Side A Fuckin' In The Bushes Go Let It Out Gas Panic! Little By Little Songbird Let's All Make Believe
Side B The Hindu Times. Stop Crying Your Heart Out Where Did It All Go Wrong? Born On A Different Cloud Roll It Over.
Singles: Go Let It Out B Sides: Who Feels Love Little James - You hear this before you hear any of Liam's other songwriting contributions. Lowers your expectations slightly before you hear the two on the album.
-- Stop Crying Your Heart Out B Sides: (Probably) All In The Mind - The Johnny Marr element would help this single fly off the shelves. Better Man
-- The Hindu Times B Sides: Thank You For the Good Times My Generation - Love their version. Great B Side.
-- Little By Little B Sides: Force of Nature Sunday Morning Call
