Voted for We are the champions and 7 nation arm, and am fairly sure about those, but can't pick a third. I'm convinced it should be one of the Beatles ones or Wonderwall though, definitely not Rolling in the deep.

I remember reading somewhere that the most recognizable song worldwide is God Save the Queen. Which is probably the worst possible answer that the question could have. I have no idea how God Saves the Queen sounds like it's gotta be Imagine, especially now that with that cringy video of celebrities butchering it I only know it from here.

And talking about national anthems, La Marseillaise is ten times more recognizable.

Hey Jude, Bohemian Rhapsody and Stayin Alive. Tough one, but I think a lot of people haven't heard Imagine, especially Milennials and gen z.

It's Yesterday, you can't compare it with Wonderwall, Bohemian Rhapsody, Seven Nation Army...
Also, some google searches, youtube views, spotify numbers...doesn't mean shit.
Does your grandma use Spotify, goes to football matches and sings Seven Nation Army... And let's not talk about someone's grandma from India or Africa...
That old generation is still alive, songs like Yesterday are playing for example in bohemian quarters in my town, they are known by every generation. I believe that songs like Love Me Tender, Yesterday, Hey Jude, Strangers In The Night are like 10 times more recognizable than Wonderwall, Seven Nation Army, Bohemian Rhapsody.
World is much bigger than just western world and there are much more generations living, not just ours (I believe that most people here are in their 20s or 30s).
Songs like Wonderwall, Seven Nation Army, Bohemian Rhapsody became like some popular memes among younger generation but I am sure that some 65 years old guy in India doesn't know anything about those songs. But whistle to him Yesterday, he will probably know it.

Also, I heard songs like Hit the Road Jack in 10 different countries in 100 different places. Everyone is covering that song, from Gypsy bands, jazz bands to some guy with acoustic guitar with girl who is singing in some local pub.

I was at the gym the other day, and there was a new instructor, a 23 year old. As the radio was on we talked a bit about music. He had absolutely no idea who John Lennon or Paul McCartney are. His parents mostly listened to Dutch schlager like singers so that and the top40 hit crap radiostations was all he knew. It's not just age or where you come from, it's also what your parents or perhaps other relatives listen to. Had my parents not listened so much to music when I was growing up or had they listened to schlager music instead for example, I might not have had the interest in it that I do have now.

They may not know the song but i bet many of them will recognise the 7NA riff if you sang it to them.

It's probably a Queen song, which is pretty bad. Boomer ear porn.

I don't know how much we should trust radio airplay because of the different formats.
Still most of those songs will have been in a lot of movies/tv 70's onwards though. Younger people are not going to have consumed any of it like people in their 30's+ did though, at least here in the US.
But yeah, I think it's "Yesterday" too.

1. Yesterday 2. Bohemian Rhapsody 3. Imagine 4. Hey Jude 5. We Are The Champions
I can ask anyone from ages 12 and up these five songs and they'll know who it's from. The elderly man down the street isn't going to easily know Wonderwall or Seven Nation Army.

For some reason, I think a song like "Come Together" might be more known for the "youth" (let's say people under the age of 25) than "Yesterday". I might be wrong though.

If we're going who has the most recognizable catalogue, I don't see anyone coming close to The Beatles tbh.

I guess, based on the numerous covers of the song that've been done in the last five years it seems. 'Yesterday' on the other hand is one of those otherworldly ballads that can connect with anyone, it transcends genres and generations unlike many songs can. I'm more so looking at how long this song has been in the public conscious across all demographics.

Didn't notice the results were clear and the people had spoken. So Imagine is the most recognizable song in the world. Wonderwall 2nd ex aequo Surprised about some of the songs that stayed with 0 vote though.
