Oasis – How it should have been;
Its the Summer of 1998 - Noel meets Verve producer Chris Potter by chance and they hit it off. Potter suggests that Oasis need to move forward with the times. That they have done the big rock records and need to be more progressive. Noel agrees and sends him a few demos which include Go Let It Out, Gas Panic! and Teotihuacan. Potter loves the experimental nature of the demos and asks if he could be the producer of the next Three Oasis records. He sees Oasis as having a new trilogy of records starting with a psychedelic rock record, then a big commercial smash and finally and mix of guitar pop.
During 1999 Bonehead, Guigs and Alan White all leave, leaving Oasis with just Liam and Noel as members. Gem, Andy Bell join in May 1999 and also enlist Zak Starkey to join the band full time in July of 2000. Starkey gets the green light from the Who to join.
Oasis start to record the 4th record in the South of France in August 2000 with Potter as producer. During the sessions Potter asks Noel to put words to the Teotihuacan which becomes Keep What Ya Got with Liam on vocals. The album is finished and released in April 2001.
Standing On the Shoulder of Giants – April 2001
1) Fucking in the Bushes 2) Go Let It Out 3) Who Feels Love? 4) One Way Road 5) Little James 6) Gas Panic! 7) Where Did It All Go Wrong? 8) Let’s All Make Believe 9) Keep What Ya Got 10) Roll It Over
The album is a critical success of the record and singles (Go Let It Out, Keep What You Got & Who Feels Love?) are well received also. Oasis fans enjoy a more well rounded and interesting offering from the group. Potter believes that the next record needs to go back to basics. An Oasis sounding record with big choruses and anthems. After touring SOTSOG extensively worldwide throughout 2001 & 2002, the band go back into the studio in the Summer of 2003 to start on the 2nd record of the trilogy, Don't Believe the Truth.
Don’t Believe the Truth – April 2004
1) Turn Up The Sun 2) The Hindu Times 3) Lyla 4) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5) Songbird 6) Little By Little 7) A Quick Peep 8) Love Like A Bomb 9) Let There Be Love 10) Keep The Dream Alive
Although the record does not get the critical acclaim as the first, the band enjoy huge hit singles Lyla, Stop Crying your Heart Out, Keep the Dream Alive and Little By Little.
After another huge world tour the band regroup in 2006 to record the final record of the trilogy with Potter - Dig Out Your Soul - which is a interesting mix of neo psychedelia, gospel and 60's guitar pop. The band release the 3rd record in May 2007 to critical acclaim as well as hit singles The Shock of the Lightning, The Boy with the Blues & Falling Down.
Dig Out Your Soul – May 2007
1) Bag It Up 2) The Turning 3) Waiting for the Rapture 4) The Shock of the Lightning 5) Falling Down 6) The Boy With The Blues 7) Lord Don’t Slow Me Down 8) To Be Where There’s Life 9) Come On (It's Alright) (Liam Vox) 10) Stop The Clocks
The band then release a greatest hit's album in 2009 called Time Flies and do a world tour and split amicably on the last night in Hyde Park playing to 150,000 people.
One can dream... .right
