I think it would be only fair to compare their acoustic renditions, in which case I find it difficult to choose between IIHAG and TDOTL. Having listened to all three back-to-back multiple times, I think Dead in the Water is out of the other two's league and is vastly overrated. For me, the end of IIHAG (with I'm waiting for the moment
/ For my heart to be unbroken by the seams and Let me fly you to the moon) is decisive, so I'd go for that one.

Dead In The Water is the sort of track that people who hate Oasis and Noel would say 'yeah fair play'. The other two have the same formula but there's just something missing there.

Can't really reason why, but these two lines really grind my gears: "It’s dripping in my ear, and it don’t sound funny Gonna take you out when I get some money" As for the performance, Noel would've been better off without that reverb-y (?) effect on his vocals. It's not a big deal, but the acoustic performance of TDOTL from the same radio session sounds a lot better in my opinion. I still like the song, don't get me wrong, I just think the other two are even better. |

The soundcheck version of IIHAG in the doys tour would be the best of the three songs if it was what NG released as the album/single version. The drums are way too distracting. As it is for me goes like this (soundcheck IIHAG) > Dead in the water > (Demo of Dying og the light) > Dying of the light > If I had A Gun. Its a crime against music what Sardy did to IIHAG. |

Shocked by the lack of love for Dying of the Light. Demo was amazing, album version is amazing, just a pure beautiful song. Dead in the Water is great too but I actually would have liked a studio recording.

Dead In The Water, the chorus just does it for me
I love the lyrics and the way he sings "let the storm rage", right in the feelings that
I'm a fan of all three songs though, If I Had A Gun got a bit ruined by the production but there's an undeniably great tune in there, love the acoustic version with Mike on piano, and The Dying Of The Light has that brilliant feeling of "this is shit but WE'll get through it" Noel does better than anyone
