Very tough one. WTSMG is of course laden with classics (Wonderwall, DLBIA, CS, SMS, CNS). But so is The Masterplan (Acquiesce, The Masterplan, Listen Up, Rockin Chair, Stay Young), but with the added bonus of having no god awful Hey Now. WTSMG is of course woven into the fabric of British culture and society but we can’t use that as it’s competing against a bside collection - not a fair comparison. So, what’s it to be then? I have no fucking clue myself. igotflair

Apart from Definitely Maybe, The Masterplan is Oasis’ best collection of songs

Pound for pound I think The Masterplan is slightly better, but the classic songs on WTSMG will get most peoples vote I imagine.

Both albums are absolute pleasure to my ears, from start to finish. It's just that sometimes 50 minutes is just enough and right measure and sometimes I want more.
Is it better to have 50 minutes long sex with 10/10 girl and then smoke cigarette after and relax for 16 minutes, watch something on tv, talk with her... Or is it better to just have 66 minutes long sex with 10/10 girl? Same thing if you ask me, sometimes I prefer one thing, somethimes other but I am fine, whatever happens.

The Masterplan by a million miles. There are just too many songs on WTSMG that I don't care about. And on top of that, The Masterplan includes Going Nowhere and WTSMG certainly doesn't, so case closed for me.

The Masterplan. Hadn't heard either DM, WTSMG, or most of anything else at that point on the first listen and it was still as mind-blowing to me as much as the other two were later. Acquiesce, The Masterplan, Headshrinker, etc are all up there with the songs on the other two.

WTSMG for me. Just has higher highs and lows in my opinion. Hey Now is not awful btw.

They can’t be compared.
WTSMG is better by miles in the sense that it captured their time/moment (aka recorded as a group of songs)
Masterplan is stupendous...no doubt. By you can’t judge a world-breaking record vs a compilation.
WTSMG broke Oasis in USA and world. Triumphant topping of a historic debut. DLBIA and Wonderwall remain their top two recognized/revered songs. It contains their first #1 single too.
I think Hey Now is a great tune...otherwise it’s the only questionable track.

Hey Now! is mediocre at worst. It's a fully structured song with decent lyrics, a decent melody, good instrumentation, and a good vocal track. It's far from awful. Nothing Oasis did was that bad. As fans, we take for granted that they kept going for as long as they did, and at the quality they did.

I'd rather listen to Masterplan, not sure it's better. Just much less overplayed.
The tunes on TMP are absurd for a B side comp. And I think the record flows well for a comp too.

Baffled that it's this close.
Morning Glory is one of the best pop albums ever made. The Masterplan is a great compilation, but a compilation it is. Couldn't even hope to compete to the cultural behemoth that is (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
