Is it just me who thinks Knebworth was nowhere near one of their best shows? The first night is pretty good, the banter between songs etc.. You can tell they are enjoying themselves. The second night is pretty dull though.

That gig was immense, even if they split the two nights up from song to song like There And Then I'd be happy.

The second night is pretty dull though. The 2nd night was probably because Liam got that pissed the night before as he didn’t realise they were playing 2 nights! But yeah, I agree the first night did sound a lot better. I do think the occasion overshadows the performance tho, all the hype and coverage they had around the Knebworth gigs at the time I remember so I think although it’s crying out for a all bells and whistles release I’ll still be disappointed in it as the hype was so big at the time.

Isn’t that what Liam said back in 2000 about the Wembley gigs? Thought it was one night. Got plastered that night after show. Was a train wreck for night 2 and torpedoed that live gig recording.

I think he’d been drinking all afternoon for the 2nd night at Wembley, you could tell he was plastered when half way through The Happy Monday’s set he swaggers on stage with a can and starts dancing with Bez. Was around the time he was divorcing Patsy so was probably on one massive bender anyway.

The second night is pretty dull though. I like the bootleg of the second night but the footage is horrible. You can barely see the crowd and the band isn't particularly entertaining so that gets boring fast.

Gotta be a reason why Oasis never released Knebworth dvd/blu ray. Seems like such an obvious play for them and huge cash grab.

I wonder if the lack of permission/inclusion of Alan and Guigsy in Supersonic is related/holding it up. They could probably release the audio only without their permission, but when it comes to video performance, you have to get permission of all involved. Perhaps that is the real reason why the 20th anniversary film morphed into Supersonic: the concert film was dead when Alan and Guigsy refused permission (for whatever the reason -- money, bad feelings, etc).

Yeah but they could have released this many many times over the years. 2006 probably the best idea.

Alan had just been booted out in 2004 and Guigsy was already on the outs with Ignition as far back as 1998/1999. My guess is that they bet at the time that vaulting it for later release was the best move instead of releasing their 3rd concert video in 3 years. Then, things happened that made it hard for them to release it. It's a shame, really.
