2018 was probably a bit better, radio silence from the Gallaghers, I think the Now Now might've been 2018.

I posted this in "Your Other Bands Thoughts For The Day" a couple of weeks ago I guess it's about that time of the year to start listing our fave albums? Andrew Bird - My Finest Work Yet (by far the one I've listened to the most this year. Absolutely loved it) Grace Potter - Daylight The Black Keys - Let's Rock The Lumineers - III Brittany Howard - Jamie Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka Josh Ritter - Fever Breaks Black Pumas - Black Pumas I'll add Liam's WMWN to that list

I think this year has been a weak one in terms of music for me. I was expecting a lot of album but some of them were delayed and some of them were not what I expected. If I have to make a list I'd go with:
Foals - Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Both parts of the record are equally great, some bits of classic Foals (The Runner, Like Lightning, Into The Surf) and some bits of experimentation and new sounds (Cafe D'Athens, On The Luna) but overall both records are great.
Cage The Elephant - Social Cues Lots of tunes here. There are fillers as well. But I won't forget the week it came out. Tunes like Ready To Let Go, The War Is Over, Black Madonna or the title track are one of the best tunes of their whole catalogue.
The S.L.P I didn't expect nothing from Serge but I must admit this has been the album of my summer. Tunes like Nobody Else, The Wu or The Youngest Gary will always be in my head as the tracks from 2019 summer.
Honorable mentions:
Liam Gallagher - Why Me? Why Not. Of course its a great album but I find hard to not get tired. Its a sequel to AYW that do its thing right. But not remarkable to me. Just a good album.
Coldplay - Everyday Life (Sunset) Sunset is a great half. Is the sound I was expecting from them. Something intimate but beautiful. Sunrise is a weaker album to me.

Not necessarily in an order, just the ones I remembered first:
Fontaines D.C. - Dogrel Ride - This Is Not A Safe Place Liam Gallagher - Why Me? Why Not. Swervedriver - Future Ruins Whirr - Feels Like You L'Epee - Diabolique black midi - Schlagenheim DIIV - Deceiver Duster - self-titled
Some good releases but I gotta say there haven't been many albums that grabbed my attention this year. But I'll probably discover some more later. Parquet Court's Wide Awake! was my favourite album of 2018 and I didn't hear it until this year.
e. Have A Nice Life released an album last month but I haven't heard it yet. Duster also released a single which I liked but I'm not sure when the album is coming out.

Lord-Fallen Idols Well what can I say for a band that improves every album, they've done fantastic here. Voyager-Colours of the sun A vast improvement on their last 2. Very much back to V sounding stuff Blind Guardian's Twilight Orchestra-Legacy of the Dark Lands Where's the guitars? That aside, mind blown. no man- Love you to bits That's probably what you'll be thinking when you hear this. By the way, Bowness is still 21. Sabaton- Great War What a WWI album!

Loved... Ride - this is not a safe place Iggy pop - free
Liked... Liam G - why me why not Fastball - the help machine Noel G - the 2 EPs The specials - encore Neil Young - Colorado
The new artist I really got into this year was Mitski. Her album Becthe Cowboy came out last year but it was new to me in January so I’d call that a 2019 album for me.

In no particular order:
Liam Gallagher - Why Me Why Not Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell Coldplay - Everyday Life Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising Erland Cooper - Sule Skerry Angel Olsen - All Mirrors
This is the first year I've used Apple Music and I'm surprised at the stuff I've found - Olsen, Lana Del Rey and Weyes Blood found through automated playlists according to taste, so well worth considering.

It was released yesterday.

Fontaines DC - Dogrel Karen O & Danger Mouse - Lux Prima Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride Couldn’t get into the new Temples album and also found all the new Tame Impala stuff pretty underwhelming I'd agree with you on the Tame Impala point. Borderline and Patience were pretty alright, and It Might Be Time is good, but Posthumous Forgiveness just doesn't pop in a progressive electro-psychedelic rock way that I thought it was going to, much in the way Let it Happen did. It just doesn't have the same flair as Currents did. I understand that was supposed to be pop-y, but this aims to be pop-y and then falls short of reaching of its full potential in an effort to not be pop. Love the other choices though. Vampire Weekend had a hell of a comeback and good year with Father of the Bride coming out. This Life and Harmony Hall were a strong duo of singles and they had some other really good earworms, like Unbearably White. It sounds like a 70s-inspired-sort-of-indie rock album, but it has other layers beneath the surface and some good songwriting at its core that makes it timeless.

Had the pleasure of seeing Vampire Weekend about a month ago and they played an incredible set - having 4 strong albums to call on, it was just a procession of great songs and they are flawless musicians IMO. As for Tame Impala, Currents is my least fave of their catalogue. The new stuff kinda sounds Currents-lite to me. Hopefully the album surprises me. I’ll still think Parker is a genius either way but everyone is entitled to a bit of a misfire
