Ok, I spent whole hour listening to this band, I was in the room where someone was playing their live show.
I didn't know what I was listening, I didn't see their sad little emo faces. Just music, no prejudice.
Aaand, they are officially shit.

That new song is amazing, one of the best they've put out.

That new song is amazing, one of the best they've put out. Right? They hit on a nice blend of their sharp, guitar-driven stuff from their first two albums and what they did on A Brief Inquiry... I think this album is gonna be very interesting with a wide blend of sounds and good music. They've got the pulse of the younger generations and the zeitgeist (which is really hard to do), while having a sound that transcends generations, which is something I hope they keep going with.

Listened to the leak last night. It is a strong album in places, but theres definitely a tad too much filler/instrumental on there (to be fair its a 22 track album). High highs and dull lows. And one song which sounds far too "charty" and nothing like them (a song called What Should I Say, doesn't even sound like them musically or vocally).

The 1975 are too pop in my opinion, odd song I like, but not for me mate.

I've yet to give their newest album a listen, but if I'm being honest, I'm a little baffled why more Oasis fans don't like them. Their OTT arrogance that runs throughout their music is 100% rock 'n' roll and cut from the same cloth as the Gallagher brothers. I suppose it's just down to the style of music, they're far more willing to incorporate pop influences and autotune into their songs.

Certainly my favourite band of the last decade or so. You're average Oasis fan, ye know, bucket hat, dresses like Liam, thinks the Courteeners are the best band in the world sort, just wont like them. Thing is, 1975 blow all these Indie bands out the water in every department. I'm talking Catfish and the Bottlemen, Courteeners etc

Not really feeling this one as an album especially on the heels of the last one being a very consistent and solid set of songs, but then I hate dance music in general and the dancey / vocal effects tunes might be really good but just aren't for me.
There's much to like here though, very much shiny dance pop 80s influences which I very much approve of. 'Guys' is like a lost 1980s MOR power ballad and is stuck in my brain. The intro reminds me of Missing You by John Waite, a song I make no apologies for loving unironically.
'Me and you together' has an addictive, bouncy joy. 'Don't Worry' has that familiar piano torch-song style they've explored successfully before. 'Roadkill', belying it's unpleasant title actually has a nice, gentle Summery vibe. My favourite is 'If you're Too Shy' - they're capable of great hooks and it's possibly one of the best pop songs of 2020.
I actually feel some of the stuff is not a million miles away from material like "That's what I Go to school for" era Busted, some of their output would fit 1975 and vice versa, and I dont say that as a slam on either band.

I liked it after the first listen, nothing ground breaking for them but there's more stuff I like than what was on the album before this.
Only problem was a lot of the better songs are too short!
