I'm sure that many of you are aware of the plight of Michael Shields, if not I'll explain. On his way back from the Champions League final in Istanbul, Michael (a Liverpool fan) was arrested for the attempted murder of a Bulgarian barman, a crime Michael denied. A few weeks ago a man by the name of Graham Sankey was named by the Liverpool Echo as the man who actually commited this crime, Sankey eventually confessed to a lawyer that it was he who had smashed a paving stone over the waitors head. However the judge in Varna deemed this evidence not necessary and today found Michael guilty of attempted murder and sentenced him to 15 years. Michael has been imprisoned for a crime that he did not commit, please sign the petition (please forget any prejudices you may have towards Liverpool, whether you be Evertonian or Man U, this is much much more important, this is about a mans life) to put pressure upon the government to try and release Michael. i'm not gonna sign a petition based on a media report over a court ruling. If the judge ruled in that way, then he must have had reason.
there may be truth in it, but from my experience media reports are often very very inaccurate

the bulgarian lad who was attacked was saying on the news today that it was definitely Michael Shields who attacked him

Why no 'fund for Martin Georgief'?? I am absolutely flabbergasted by the amount of people who have jumped on to this, very flakey, bandwagon! We've had our very own miscarriages of justice (Guilford 4 etc) so the underlying implacation that East European justice is shite and we are superior is very short sighted. Mr Shields has been, on numerous occasions, indentified by the VICTIM and an independant witness! What axe did they have to grind? Surely like the rest of us they want to see FAIR justice done? Its very telling that Jack Straw and the Foriegn Office, whilst making the right noises, have no intention of doing anything to ease Shields's 'plight', and whats more The Shields family know it!! Know a quick line for those not so well versed in 'justice' scouse style. Clouding investigations and muddying the waters are very well known and widely used tactics and yes, one of the ways is to hit the Police with false confessions often from family members or friends. Its not unusual for said family and friends to plant confusing evidence again ti foil the police. Young lads often drive illegaly, like on all cities, and if they crash or get stopped, they run and report the car stolen or get a friend or family, with a full licence, to 'admit' they were driving. Once again foiling the 'bizzies'. Now i'm sorry if this is too raw for some but I stand by every word as the truth. It happens, and I fully believe this is what is going on here. Why the hell would we expect ANY court to release someone, who's been indentified bear in mind, on the flimsical uncorroborated statement coming out of his HOME city? C'mon guys lets face a UK court certainly wouldnt do it!!! All the above is my honest opinion based on a bit of knowledge of the case and experience of being raised in the city. But it is MY opinion and dare i say, I have as much right as anyone else on here to air it. So all constructive debate is welcomed, but if you feel your only response shall be derogatory then just pause coz it aint big and it certainly aint clever! |

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... ....A toffee, I knew it! ;D Nahh I aint biting soz!! Its nothin' to do with it! Its my honest opinion and IF i'm evntually proved wrong I'm big enough to hold my hands up! But the whole thing just stinks to me. We wouldn't question a conviction here given the amount of evidence against. Evidence I hasten to add that included dna evidence as well as the eye witness statement. The so called 'confession' reeks!! I need more than the very enlightening 'Michael is innocent'!! I need more than 'youre a blue' or 'Everton are shit' to convince me, and if thats all yous put I'll chalk this up as a moral victory so thanks!! Debate...... |

 I know, soz matey!! Im certainly not havin a go you and I don't want to unduely fall out with bods. Its just that I don't want people to think theres only one view in Liverpool about this subject. There is two sides to every story and in this case it aint blue and red!! Right, i'm off to bed to get some shut eye. I need some more time to sleep on how the fcuk were gonna get past Villareal!!
