By the comments I was expecting a disaster, but I think some of you guys are taking that video waaaaaaay too seriously.
It's fine, at points touching. Especially the final minute.
It's a sappy music video for kind of a sappy song that's being geared toward Christmas. I don't know what anyone else was expecting. Something more serious?

A nice Christmas message, that we should all shoplift a joke pair of glasses for cold and hungry homeless people. (what a f*cking terrible 'music video') The moral of the story: everything is about you, it doesn't matter how everybody else makes their living. God forbid you spend your own money own money on your flesh and blood.

Something where Noel beats up santa in an ally. Maybe just the band performing it in a club.

Just left me feeling like he is an abusive father, or low life criminal who forces his ex-wife into shoplifting....merry Xmas.

Probably one of those custody battles where the wife still fucks him, but doesn't let him see his children.

Just Noel singing the song on a set or walking down the street, with old footage of him and his brother performing and laughing together fading in and out. Then at the end, an actor who looks like Liam from behind wearing a parka walks in an gives Noel a big hug.

Father Christmas is dead ... you understand it from what children see ... there is only the mother who greets them!

The countdown music ~2 mins before the video was that Noel? Sounded like Wandering Star and Shoot A Hole's chilled out electronic love child.

Well I love the video.
Stephen Graham is actually dead in the video and he’s now her Wandering Star guiding her home. Tear at the end leaving his family behind. Struggling mother on her own with the kids having to shoplift.
Very good video that.

Nice touch to make a video for a song that isn't the lead track off the next EP. Quite like the video too, it makes me appreciate the song a little bit more.
Nice to get a video that isn't Noel and the band playing awkwardly in front of a crappy green screen for a change.

I like the video, to be honest. It reminded me a bit of the III Ray music video from Kasabian.
What were some people expecting? Noel singing on a green screen/stage/random place looking miserable?
I think it's a sweet little video without being really cheesy. I didn't get that santa was dead, I thought he and the mom weren't getting along at the moment and he was giving her some space. If he was a ghost, how is that he was able to push the security guard at 2:02?

If he was a ghost, how is that he was able to push the security guard at 2:02? Dan Cadan, who co-directed the video with Scully, says: “This isn’t an anti-Christmas video, quite the opposite. We wanted to highlight the plight that can affect people, especially around Christmas; the pressures from commercial bombardment and a consumerist society, for a single-parent who will stop at nothing to ensure their kids feel the magic that so many take for granted. We hope this fills you with Christmas cheer and strikes a chord enough for you to raise a glass to those less fortunate but equally as deserving.”

The security guard is Noels mate isnt it. Not sure of his name but im sure ive seen him knock about with himnat city games Yes, it is Scully, his friend, who also co-wrote/directed the video, so I guess most of the blame on this thread is aimed his way (partially).

Easy to rob in there - they keep the footballs and slazenger socks right by the door...

P.S. "santa" is missing in the last scene when the kids look out on their mum from the balcony, so yeah, he's dead
