On another topic. Watching the end of part 1 (with "Isn't it a Pity" playing over the end credits) prompted me to go and listen to the new mix of All Things Must Pass.
Did this release completely pass anyone else by? I remember listening to the remixed title track last year but don't remember seeing anything about the whole album when it was released.
The new mix is great, I always disliked Spector's production on this album and it's been cleaned up quite nicely imo.
Still hoping for that Revolver remix...

Second episode is biblical!
Ok, maybe it wasn't PJ' fault and I was like, mammy and daddy are fighting, I can't watch this or maybe because I had fight with girlfriend yesterday and I couldn't stand bad vibes.
Those 4 idiots and geniuses finally got their shit together, it seems that Lennon stopped using drugs, they started coming on time and fucking work. Plus fucking legend Billy Preston.

Has some killer remixes on it That was the first 'new' Beatles album I bought, I remember getting it the day it came out. I still play it quite regularly in my car. With all these unreleased Beatles songs coming out of the Get Back documentary I'm thinking the next Beatles release needs to be Anthology 4: The Get Back Sessions

Why so serious bomb I’m just saying it reached to me as « Peter Jackson telling the whole truth about the infamous Beatles get back disatrous sessions » and that it would set history straight. That’s how they marketed it for people like me who didn’t follow closely who did what, who reached first 😟 and who are not into Hollywood news 24/7. not saying it was a big evil plan but they saw an opportunity to sell it as « big director tells the Beatles how they really were » There is nothing wrong with that, at all, it’s clever and entertaining as I said before. But it was a selling point. To add credibility to the project, rather than have an anonymous guy make the cut. There is always a selling point. 8 hours of Beatles rehearsing without a selling point wouldn’t reach a broad audience. It helps that way that it’s a big director. I’m sorry if you don’t understand my point. I'm sorry, too, andymorris, if I don't get you. Maybe it is a language barrier, or we're just talking past each other like two Beatles in Twickenham ... But I suppose these days I've become increasingly frustrated by people who just make up how things are (always a hangup of mine I suppose but it's become the way of the world!) For sure Peter Jackson was a major selling point. He comes with his own fandom as well. And of course these are things that are all taken into consideration. But you implied Jackson was chosen. In fact, Jackson wasn't chosen at all. He WANTED to make the film and everything else came after that. And if there's one thing I'd love to get across to you it is that lots of people in the entertainment industry do things out of love and passion. Yes, there are lots of suits about who are mainly about money. But they don't usually drive any of the creativity ... because in fact they don't know how. Tying this back to the thread, the same was true of the Beatles. You see all these money types sauntering in and out of their orbit but when it comes to what happens between them it is a total mystery to these people!

With all these unreleased Beatles songs coming out of the Get Back documentary I'm thinking the next Beatles release needs to be Anthology 4: The Get Back Sessions They don’t need to do a 4th Anthology for Get Back. They could have easily put these songs on last months Let It Be reissue. It had all the standard alt takes we have come to expect. However they worked on so much material that still hasn’t come out anywhere officially. It’s so fascinating and makes buying those deluxe reissued more enticing. Commonwealth My Imagination Suzy Parker The Castle of The King of Birds Watching Rainbows Madman Blues Jam Plus full band versions of Across The Universe, fast punky versions of Get Back and I’ve Got A Feeling and a 4 minute Mean Mr Mustard with John on organ. Why wasn’t this gold released? Paul and RS aren’t getting any young. Neither is their massive baby boomer fan base.

What an amazing 3 days it has been for us Beatles fans. I'm still processing what I just witnessed. I think I am going to watch all 3 back to back tomorrow.

Hhahahaahahhaa Second episode is better, come on, you know it xD Oh, it's a great episode but the funny part is that your favorite is also by far the longest Guess it was more a mood thing for you ... but the shifting of the mood is really kinda the point. Creating something is boring and frustrating and slow and aggravating ... and then suddenly it is magical and beautiful and lasting. That's the story PJ told.

Episode 1 was like watching my life at that moment. And then things got better and episode two got better xD
I know, I know, it isn't Peter's fault, it was my personal shit. But still, 3/5 for first episode xD I mean, take a sad song and make it better, right?
Anyway, I think that we finally got the answer who broke up The Beatles.
It was lack of discipline.
When they have plan and all come to studio on time and work, work... everything is great.
Without that, everyone comes and leave swhen they want, Lennon is obviously on drugs, Harrison is deep in his Indian bullshit, Paul is egotistical bastard...
Even when they are doing great, with too much alcohol things are starting to get shit. We could see how they couldn't record Let It Be properly. They start to act silly, maybe it looks like fun but they are hiding behind that, it is obvious that they are feeling best when they are creating something and things are working out and they are playing and singing great, just like when Billy came.
So, Paul couldn't sing Let It Be but ok, he has plan to come tomorrow again.
They were all overthinkers obviously and had to much free time. We all know stories that Lennon was saying that Get Back was about Yoko and that Paul was looking at her everytime he sings words "Get Back". I was just paying attention to that and Paul never looked at Yoko plus we know how they created the song, it started as a protest song.
So it was just bored Lennon overthinking about that years after that. You really just like to sit there and watch the wheels go round and round, John? Really? To me it sounds like that he was just trying to make easy for himself with songs like that. I'm only sleeping too.
I saw happy Lennon when he was working and coming everyday at 11:00 am at the studio. When he stopped doing that, he is doing primal scream, wants to make hole in his head and shit like that.

On the topic of the Let It Be deluxe box set: what are the standout tracks to you?
I still really like the sound and feel of the LIB Naked album. I appreciate what Spector was trying to do and why they asked him but to me, the big arrangements don’t help the songs. That said, I prefer the original track listing to the revised one on LIB-N. I still need to get a proper listen of the outtakes from the box set.
Also, I’d choose LIB over Abbey Road, easily. But I don’t think many would agree with me.

Finished the series. Some thoughts.
- Very interesting that after the playback for “Long and Winding Road”, George Martin, George Harrison and Glyn Johns all tell Paul the song needs strings because the two pianos and guitar are all canceling one another out. So it wasn’t just random that Phil Spector did it a year later. It seemed to be the popular production choice.
- I’m shocked they didn’t package the complete roof top performance on the bonus CDs. Or even make an additional vinyl EP of the best takes from the roof. Something like:
Get Back (Take 2) Don’t Let Me Down (Take 1) I’ve Got A Feeling (Take 1) One After 909 Dig A Pony Get Back (Take 3)
I think we all would have eaten that shit up.

I can imagine George Martin's orchestration would have been far more tasteful than the saccharine Disneyfied stuff that Spector put there.

More Get Back thoughts…………..
- I love how in episode 1, George tells Paul he’s got a stockpile of songs he’s probably going to keep and make solo record with one day. Paul could not look more disinterested.
- Later in episode 3, George tells John the same idea and John is all for it and enthusiastic for a George solo LP.

It boggles my mind that the band was still so young during these sessions.
Ringo - 28
John - 28
Paul - 26
George - 25

George Harrison smoked 3 packs a day apparently (lord knows how). Plus they did drugs and drank a lot. I just realized that Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin thing is on Disney too. Totally gonna watch that later. Has anyone seen it? Is it good?
