Never heard this before. Full studio recording with Gem on it. Just incredible. What a band he's got now.

He played this when I saw him in 2015. I actually really like this arrangement, it sounds more "uplifting" than the original. Sounds like it could be something off Screamadelica.

I was more referring to it sounding a bit like Movin On Up though, and the general euphoric sound similar to Screamadelica

Fantastic version. Truly different from the original take but brilliant and emotional.

For those who are looking for the entire session, this performance is from Steve Lamacq show and it was aired on BBC6 Music. You can find the specific thread on S&V. Cheers.

the outro is pretty nice, but everything before is bland. and the way he says some words makes me cringe.

Tbh I often forget that Screamadelica even has songs like Movin On Up and Damaged. Those two songs stick out like sore thumbs on that record.

His enunciation on this sounds terrible Totally ruins it imo. I liked this arrangement when he started playing it but his vocals got gradually more and more annoying.

I mean, yeh, the original version is close to untouchable.
I liked noel's reworking of it in 2015-16 and this version from 2017 with Gem really adds something.
It's not better. It doesn't have to be. But it's a very good reworking of it.
Noel couldn't sing it like Liam does in the orignal, we know that

It sounds like a mess to me. Gem is great though. I wish Noel had done something a bit closer to this:

Prefer Liam's current version, Sheffield tonight for example, retains the vibe of the original along with new instrumentation and arrangement, the song was truly made for rkid's voice.
