Hi all, just sharing some thoughts:
Although I understood noel's decision in 2001 to share songwriting (just like the beatles did more towards the end) unfortunately the results as hoped never came to full fruition. I was just thinking, what if noel didn't share and used full control in terms of songs himself, just like the 90s.
With some release delays, liam singing more songs, downsizing 4 releases to 3 and some little twists here and there, these could have been the results:
Standing on the shoulder of giants (2001) 1.Fuckin' in the bushes 2.Go let it out 3.Who feels love 4.Put yer money where your mouth is 5.Let's all make believe 6.Gas panic! 7.Where did it all go wrong? 8.Sunday morning call (liam) 9.Force of nature 10.Full on (liam) 11. Roll it over
Don't Believe The Truth (2005) 1.The hindu times 2.Little by little 3.Lyla 4.Stop crying your heart out 5.The importance of being idle 6.Lord don't slow me down (liam) 7.Lock all the doors 8.Part of the Queue 9.Who put the weight of the world.. (liam) 10.Stop the clocks (liam) 11.Let there be love
Dig out your soul (2009) 1.Bag it up 2.The turning 3.Waiting for the rapture 4.The shock of the lightning 5.If I had a gun (liam) 6.Get off your high horse lady 7.Falling down 8.Come on outside (liam) 9.Everybody's on the run (liam) 10.Record machine (liam)

An alternate timeline where Heathen Chemistry doesn't exist sounds good to me.

Can anybody give a reason that they dislike Heathen Chemistry? Are you just saying it to be different? The songs are a good length, well written, the singles were hits, the performances were good, the tour went well, can somebody tell me why it gets so much shit?

Especially coming off SOTSOG which sounds fantastic. The music overall sounds uninspired and lazy. Could have, should have been much much better. In 2002, Oasis desperately needed a producer and for them to listen to him.

I think it sounds pretty good and the quality of the songs overshadow any production issues. Best Oasis album for me.

The singles are good but it falls off fast after that. - A Quick Peep, Probably All In My Mind and Better Man are poor. Peep should have been 3-4 min instrumental. - BOADC is a terrible recording of a song that deserved a lush and rich execution. - I’d have preferred if Oasis could have finished off The Roller in place of Hung In A Bad Place.

Because it's shite. 3 decent singles and a so-so tour do not a good album make.

I know there is definitely a Liam vocal on If I Had A Gun out there somewhere, from what I know it’s from a soundcheck. I guess Noel is probably sitting on it.
I don’t think I could handle it if I heard it, serious wet pants situation!

Far better albums but I'd miss some of Liam's songs and Turn Up the Sun.

Far better albums but I'd miss some of Liam's songs and Turn Up the Sun. I'm with ya. Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, I'm Outta Time, and Born on a Different Cloud are very fine works by Liam that have a rightful place in the Oasis discography; Turn Up the Sun too. That's Andy's best contribution and a top 10 post-BHN song. I love everything that goes on in the intro and outro and how the middle part is just a full-on rocker.

No need to delete all of Liam's contributions, I don't think. Songbird, Born on a Different Cloud, I'm Outta Time, and The Boy With the Blues are all deserving of places on their respective albums. It's Andy and Gem who should never have been given songwriting duties.

Hung in a Bad Place had its place on HC, more than Probably All in the Mind, a Noel song mind you, and was more indicative of where the band was at during that time. Turn Up the Sun is also a very fine tune. I think I'd throw in To Be Where There's Life too. The Richard Fearless production of that song is badass with the raw, gritty, fuzzed out bass and the rhythm guitars, plus the sitars. (Also if anyone reading this liked that sound, check out the band Elephant Stone; they're very similar to it). Otherwise, you can toss aside most of the other songs to be B-sides or rarities that would still yet to be found but rumored, if we lived in an alternate timeline (looking at you TNOR). Edit: Keep the Dream Alive is good too; just nix the "La la la"s and go from the solo straight to the outro.
