Somebody needed to say it. He wrote great songs and even did some cool lead work, but his singing is shit. I'm one of the few who thinks his MTV Unplugged performance totally blew. People say that Noel is a technically better singer, but anybody who has taken singing lessons and or actually knows what they're talking about knows this is BS. He sings about as technically well as Liam (not at all) and his voice is irritating. It also took him like 20 years to learn how to sing into the mic.

He kinda missed the point. His singing was way to upfront to be a good backing vocalist, he sang downright louder than Liam at points. |

Noel's voice is so shit now that he will never make good album, it doesn't matter how good songs are. But he is also writing shit songs now.

Nah his songs are good at the moment his voice is just shit. Watched a performance of songbird where Noel forced in these annoying backing vocals. Also remembering how butt hurt people got when I started this thread. You would've thought I'd started a forum about it!

I sort of agree with you. Up until around 2005 his voice was just not good enough live and even though most consider the '96 MTV Unplugged a classic, I think that was a huge MEH - mainly thanks to his weak voice. He improved a lot since then and there certainly are songs that fit him more than Liam but he will never be even half as good as his brother.

I would never say he was shit singer, he's distinctive and fits certain songs very well, as far as Oasis goes I'd rather Liam sang everything to be honest except maybe the odd b-side. |

Noels voice is distinctly different than Liams. He wasn't covering up much of anything. Gem and Andy were much better.

90's live Noel sucked and Noel post Chasing Yesterday live sucks. But there was a time between SOTSOG and Chasing Yesterday where he was the better singer. Perhaps not much of a unique singer, but he had a good voice and held his notes well. He matured as a vocalist. Not sure what happened.

Noel's voice 05-16 is prime, especially love Oasis times, TIOBI performances were always highlights of these times' gigs (Wembley 2008 is orgasmic). And I love Noel's voice for ever, have no thoughts that it's shit or smth. It fits his songs and that's it (except most of dancing/cosmos pop shit that it's just not his type of music)

Noel's voice is better now than it used to be I think. I remember he once said in an Oasis's early days that when he listened to some of Oasis's live recordings his voice in some of them was terrible. He's improved a lot since then.
