I like The Bees. I wish they’d make another record.

I like The Bees. I wish they’d make another record. If your talking about the band I'm thinking of, they had 4 pretty successful albums from 2002-2010.

They toured in 2011 and two guys from the band started another group and released a 2018 record.

Contrive. I had held them back because their drummer/Taiko/eletronics has a radio station, so I don't know if they count as a band or not. that drummer's station? Here he is wearing the shirt of it:

I love this album and at least according to Spotify this artist is underrated as fuck, only 3,000 monthly listeners!
I found both of these songs years ago from two different tv shows I loved - Chuck and the Inbetweeners.

Not a band but an artist: Billy Nicholls. His album "Would You Believe" is kind of a cross between "Odessey and Oracle" and "Pet Sounds".
Check it out.

This song was played on Skins and the band somehow has only 160 monthly listeners.

Night Flowers deserve a lot more recognition. Their songs are a blend of britpop, synth-infused dream pop, jangly guitars... top band.

Hardly 'unknown' but a string of Australian indie acts from the 1980s that hold up against the indie acts of America and UK yet bizarrely don't get the same attention.
These include, but not excluded to, The Go-Betweens, The Triffids and The Church.

The Jam Doesn’t apply to this forum but they are unknown in the US. They are in no way unknown in the US. This thread isn't for bands that never reached a height they could've, this is about bands that are really unknown. I'm american, and have heard Start and Stoned out of my mind from time to time. Town called Malice was a hit here. They definitely have their following in this country.

The Shore: They never made it big but were an American Verve/Oasis loving group. I was watching a show called The League (one of my favourite comedies) which is about a group of friends playing fantasy football. Anyway, I was surprised to notice that one of the characters had The Shore's album on vinyl. And it wasn't just visible, he literally goes "hey that's my Shore record!"

They did have a very little breakthrough back in the downhill of britpop (enough to let me find them), but they had to quit a few years ago out of a lack of success, and listeners in Spotity are 5.000, so I guess Puressence they belong here. They are one of my all-time favorite bands: an amazing and unique voice, big guitars, great bass lines, and epic songs.
First 2 albums, ST debut (1996) and Only Forever (1998), are untouchable to me. At the time even singles came with great b-sides (can't find these in Spotify, that's why I don't really like streaming music), kind of like Oasis did. A couple of tracks from each:
By the third album Planet Helpless (2001), I think the fact that they didn't make it is already there, but it's still very good:
After that I think the guitarist called it a day, and they kind of lost their sound a bit... Despite that you can still find some great songs in the 2 more albums they did (2008 and 2011).
Strangely enough, I think they got quite popular in Greece for some reason... Anyway, sorry if that was too long, but I can't understand why they did make it in the UK. I hope I get some of you to appreciate them!

A couple nice Minnesota bands deserve some more recognition than they get.
For one, Bad Bad Hats, a very fine indie pop band based in Minneapolis with a lead singer who has a very sweet voice that guides their music wonderfully:
The last one is a gem because it makes references to a midwestern U.S. gas station that's a staple to the region but was recently bought out.
The other really good Minnesota band, Last Import, has a lead singer who's currently attending the same college that I am and they've been gaining traction and popularity in MN and in pockets across the U.S., for good reason:
Bonus: This really cool electroclash-sort-of-band I'm discovering at the moment. I wouldn't call them a "no-name band" but they're somewhat obscure:

A little while ago we were able to see them again (headlining a show in a small club here) and chat with them. Really lovely people, have both their albums on CD, signed. "Write It On Your Heart" from their last album is very good:

Kid British.
Only 1 album and 1 EP - such an early 2010s band.
Top track, Noel G gets a shoutout in it, innit.
