I made this a poll between POTQ and TIOBI as I think those are the two quintessentials, but if you select ‘Other’, please list. For me it’s POTQ - sure, Noel praises TIOBI as one of his best songs, but I think POTQ is more of the direction that Noel ended up going in for the most part. DBTT may not have aged the best, but that era was where Noel found his confidence again. Lovely stuff. igotflair

Another tag flairy Friday eh Beady? Pivotal, excluding all other reasoning, it’s gotta be Fuckin’ In The Bushes. Hearing the first bar of this at the beginning of a gig ~ adrenaline overload. Beady’s Here Now

The hindu times changes from demo to released version were signs of things to come. Also Falling Down was like I'm done doing that let get bolder and not the same ol' stuff.

If you're referring to a Noel-sung track, then Falling Down.
I've noticed with many rock songs recorded in 2008 they were ahead of their time in style.

The moment they stopped wanting to be the loudest, catchiest band in the world and toned down the music to make it more accessible. The demo is a vindaloo from the streets of New Delhi. The album version is a microwave korma.

The Importance of Being Idle. clearly. It was a live favorite at gigs back then, like a DLBIA for the 00s. It clearly gave Noel confidence to try and push his songwriting limits.
Falling Down finished the job few years later.

Waiting For The Rapture and/or Falling Down. I reckon these two inspired him to move further on and further out. I don't think he would've moved on to What A Life through Mighty I all the way to cosmic pop without them.

Definitely TIOBI, that right there is the genesis of Noel's solo career.
