The Joker is unbelievable. One of his best tune.

Now the dust has settled a bit:
More Power 9/10 - by far my favourite tune from the album, Liam sounds great
Diamond In The Dark 7.5/10 - I'm not a fan of the Arctic Monkeys AM era. Sounds like a reject from those sessions tbh
Don't Go Halfway 7.5/10 - decent album track, the weird vocal effects make it quite interesting
C'Mon You Know 7.5/10 - Enjoyable optimistic Liam tune, poor mans I've All I need though
Too Good For Giving Up 8.5/10 - Great tune and delivery from Liam
It Was Not Meant To Be 7/10 - Fairly forgettable tbh
Everything's Electric 8/10 - decent single, lacking something though
World's In Need 7.5/10 - much better on the album, production lifts it
Moscow Rules 8/10 - The weirdest tune on the album, but quite fun and catchy
I'm Free 6.5/10 - the weakest track for me, should have been replaced with The Joker
Better Days 9/10 - great single, should be brilliant at Knebworth
Oh Sweet Children 8/10 - Nice closer, should be longer and more epic though
The Joker 8/10 - Should have been on the album, great production
Wave 7.5/10 - Nice bonus track, perfect b-side material
Overall I'd give the album a strong 7/10 or a weak 8/10, probably his weakest solo effort but it may grow on me more.

I'm Free is bloody excellent. wtf is wrong most of this forum.
There's literally only one bad song on this album (It Was Not Meant To Be - Atrocious).
While I'm here, Don't Go Half Way is also bloody excellent.

My thoughts after a week or so... More Power 8.5Great opener. Nice touch with the choir, adds to the overall feel. Love the way it builds, the 'fake' ending, immediately followed by the proper ending. Sets the tone really well. A few have mentioned a similarity with the Stones' YCAGWYW...there is none. Just both happen to have a childrens choir. As do other songs Diamond In The Dark 9/10Really like the sound of this. The guitar groove running through this makes it a great tune. Very cool sounding tune, must be a single..? When I 1st heard the live version at Rockfield and Liam sang "now I know how many holes it takes to..", i thought 'oh dear, here we go...' but it actually works nicely, without being just a Beatles copy/paste as may have been the case previously. Also, I've not really heard much Artic Monkeys after the first 2 albums, so had a listen to AM and yeah there's a similar vibe. Will have to give that album a proper spin now i think. Don't Go Halfway 7.5/10Its ok. I like the weird quirky lyrics. Decent melody in the verses, not really feeling the chorus though. But i'd take this type of song any day as a so called filler, over over a generic YBR/IGB type tune. Oh, and the intro is pure F*cking in the Bushes which I'm liking C'Mon You Know 7.5/10Didn't like initially when I heard the RAH live version, but the studio version is much better. Great production and I think the lyrics are decent. I'd much prefer Liam penning lines like "I'm sick of acting like I'm tough, c'mon baby 'gis a hug" over generic things about 'singing', 'songs', 'Soul'...etc, etc Too Good For Giving Up 7.5/10I'm still stuck on the fence with this one. Nice melody, amazing vocals, but I'm just not sure about it. In a years time I'll either love it and rate it a 9 - or I'll be sick of it and give it a 5 So I'll go down the middle and give at a 7...with an extra 0.5 just for the vocals It Was Not Meant To Be 8/10Grown on me a lot this one. Getting a Maggie May feel from the mandolin. Nice. Kind of follows on from Meadow/Alright now (which i liked), but seems a bit better to me. Small gripe - I wish the end outro bit blended into the end of the main song more, instead of being like a separate part. Everything's Electric 8.5/10Oh yes! Liked this initially and grow on me massively. And I'm still a big far a few months down the line. Wasn't sure it'd work live, but with Liam's voice as it seems to be at the moment, he's smashing it. I loved the live version from the Brits, Liam's swagger (and stupid hat!) just did it for me. World's In Need 7.5/10Again, I first heard the live version and wasn't massively a fan. But the studio version is so much better. At first live, it seemed like one of those Beady Eye / AYW tunes that were good, but didn't really seem to know where to end. But with the production on the album version I didn't feel l that. I kind of feel that Wyatt & co are good at saying to Liam "Ok, no need to repeat that line 6 times, 2 will be perfect". Moscow Rules 8/10Great to hear Liam trying different stuff like this. Nice little song too, a real grower for me. Reminds me a bit of the Libertines' Dead for Love I'm Free 9/10I f*cking love this. Big Kasabian vibes here for me. Again, so refreshing to hear Liam doing something outside the box. More please. Better Days 8/10Probably the my least favourite of the tunes heard before the album dropped. However it's grown on me. Weirdly, most of the time I find listening to songs with headphones & loud, I start to appreciate them more. But this one is the opposite - jut hearing it in the background or in the car etc, it's a proper earworm. That chorus is so catchy "Belieeeeve Me yeahh"!! Oh Sweet Children 8/10Decent. Anywhere else except the album closer, and I'm not sure it'd work. But the perfect end to the album. Real Wings vibes here. The Joker 7.5/10Very good. Nice tune and love the backing vocals. Wave 8/10A real Grower. Probably my least favourite initially, but now right up there. Overall 8.5Very temping to give it a higher score, but I think I'll stick with 8.5 At some point or other I must have had every single song stuck in my head! For me easily the best solo Liam album. In fact i'd go as far as to say it's the best Oasis related album since WTSMG... Please keep it up Liam. Whatever your doing it's working

I was inspired to note down a ranking of all GALLAGHER albums (Oasis, Liam, Beady Eye, NG)
DM - 10/10 WTSMG - 10/10 BHN - 9/10 SOTSOG - 7/10 HC - 5/10 DBTT - 7/10 DOYS - 6/10
DGSS - 3/10 BE - 4/10
NGHFB - 7/10 CY - 8/10 WBTM - 7/10
AYW - 7/10 WMWN - 7/10 CMYK - 8/10
It’s joint 4th with Chasing Yesterday for my favourite Gallagher albums. Never would have expected that a few weeks ago!

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants for me is Oasis's worst album then Dig out your Soul.
I'd put Heathen at a tie for 4th with Don't believe the Truth.
Some Great B-sides on Standing tho

After first one and a half listens:
More Power 8 Diamond In The Dark 7 Don't Go Halfway 6 C'mon You Know 8 Too Good For Giving Up 9 It Was Not Meant To Be 6 Everything's Electric 7 World's In Need 6 Moscow Rules 6 I'm Free 3 Better Days 8 Oh Sweet Children 7 The Joker 7 Wave 5
Impressions: I was very excited after the beginning of Oh Sweet Children with its post-Beatles sound. But then it just ended.
More Power and C'mon You Know are very BDI and I like it.
Better Days is The Charlatans. Very good.
Too Good For Giving Up is lovely, I wanted to give it 10 but I contained myself.
The "experimental" songs I'm Free and Wave sounds like bad Kasabian songs.
I have the feeling Diamond In The Dark will enter my brain and not leave.
On some of the songs I feel that Liam's voice is too loud in the production?

You guys seriously prefer the first two album covers over this one? Yes definitely. I actually like the Why Me Why Not cover. But this one isn't that good at all. You do realize the cover is a photo of a crowd in a post pandemic world? It’s LG first album post Covid. It’s an epic cover and with taste, way way better than almost any Gallagher album cover. I’d say it’s their best album cover since Morning Glory

Given how AYDO, Once and especially FWIW did as singles, I think the only reason Too Good For Giving Up wasn’t issued in advance is that they wanted to emphasise how the album was different.
It’s probably the most radio-friendly Liam song along with those three. And I think it’s genuinely a sturdily written/arranged ballad. Had it been 2005 or earlier it likely could’ve been a #1 hit.
