nice little tune- nothing more nothing less an 8 for me continues to mine that brazil 66 sound can somewhat hear the smiths b-side influence/comparison... but which one is supposed to be one of best songs he's ever done? surely not this and which one is supposed to get 'all the parka monkeys' excited? (God i hate that moniker)

I almost instantly loved this song, been listening to it on repeat today, I rate it even better than "Sail on"!
With that beautiful tune he's forgiven for committing "This is the place".
IIRC he described "A dream..." as the Smiths-like song, then "Evil flower" is the Roses-influenced one; really looking forward to hearing it. I guess we'll have to wait till Sept. 27 though, 2 weeks to go...

" 'A Dream Is All I Need To Get By'. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever written! With such a hypnotic melody. It's fucking great!" Totally agree with this.

This is very good. The general atmosphere of the opening 0:45 seconds is really beautiful - kinda hazy, but its still got that spooky sparkle that Rattling Rose hinted at, but the rhythm section doesn't groove as hard, which is kinda of dimmer on this one. I've been wanting Noel to go into this kinda direction since we first heard the crispy jazz on Alone on A Rope. On the first few listens, I'm really enjoying the quieter moments of the song, I feel like the quarter note drum chorus parts need a little bit more push to them, that plodding part kinda dims some of this track's mystical beauty. I really like that pseudo build into that nice little interlude. Most impressively that swaying melody grabs you immediately when it comes in - it's fucking really good classic Noel stuff. Specifically the, "and tomorrow when the morning comes" bit might be best melodic bit of the year, but I just wish the overall track opened up a little more in the mix/production and had a bit more rhythmic push in some parts.
As someone else mentioned, this really does kinda have an Oasis quality on it. For me, it again is that opening 45 seconds, it really has some of that classic Oasis uplifting melancholy spirit to it. Modify it a little bit, and this would have been a great Noel track on a hypothetical Oasis album.

Brilliant. Not quite as good as Sail On but another brilliant effort. Only song of Noels from 2019 I'm not that keen on is Rattling Rose. Liking the first twoi songs from this EP much more than the first two from the first one. If Blue Monday didn't exist already I'd say This Is The Place is the best effort so far but it's too much of a rip off for me to fully enjoy it

It sounds like song from some young, broke musician who is trying to make some money and hoping that his song will end up in some tv commercial for some menstrual hygiene products because he can't survive with 1021 views and 17 euros that he got from Youtube for this song. This. It oozes the pungent flavour of a strategically planned money-grab.

Gotta be a 5 for me... I mean, I like a few parts of the song, but still feels like just a b-side, nothing remarkable about it...
A bit sad cos I believe this is the first time I'm not hyped for a Noel release

I get a strong Arcade Fire feel in this track. That's the vibe I got from Rattling Rose too. They're a good band for Noel to take inspiration from and a good direction for Noel.

5. Is all. Too much brilliant music around and too little time in life to listen to this ever again. I gave it a chance; not for me. That makes me laugh..... Don’t you champion Lïam’s music? Just a bunch of cheesy music for teenage girls and soccer moms, God bless. Erm... no I don’t (refer to my almost hate of Wall of Glass and my rating of 3 on at least a couple of other tracks on As You Were). I also think nothing Liam has done solo is better than a few of NGHFB’s songs. So no, I don’t champion Liam’s music, you’re just being selective with which of my comments you’re addressing. I’m always excited to hear anything from both of them for the first time. I just don’t dig this one. More importantly, any new injuries lately? I’m always excited to hear about those. Thanks.

It's nice. Think that's maybe the problem for me. It is just 'nice'.
I like it, but it hasn't grabbed me like TITP did. But it's no issue.
Probably level with RR, maybe a bit lower, in my ratings. Nice song, will listen again, but probably won't be one I'd religiously go back to.
