so gerrard, a fantastic player says he wants to leave. Why would you want to leave a club who has won every major trophy (uefa cup, super cup, worthington cup, fa cup, charity shield, champions league) except the premiership in the past four years is beyond me.
it's probably just that he wants to move on - a different challenge. It's not an anti-liverpool thing or a pro-other team thing so much as a need for a change thing. I think.
That and....
AGENTS! obviously they want you to move as often as possible b/c that way they get a 10% cut of the transfer fee every time. His agent does not want him sticking at liverpool so that he earns fuck all. And a smart agent combined with a not so savvy player = this situation.
On the up-side losing one fantastic player but getting (hopefully) 40 million pounds. (at least 32) is good. With that you can have 3 really great players for one fantastic one.
I hope for SWP and Vicente and Aimar and Woodgate. they could all easily come for 40 million
finally now is a fabulous time for him to leave for himself and for the club. All in all I don't begrudge him (b/c much as I love (sexually) gerrard 40 mill is better for the club than keeping him). And further for him to leave now when they can attract really good players (what with being european champions and all is very good. And it's good for him to leave on a high. Much like how damon hill should probably have retired after he won, like alain prost did.
anyway, all in all I can't say I'm happy, but I'm not sad. It's for the best probably. And I'm relieved b/c the continuing speculation was irritating.
further, why must a player be loyal to a club seeing as clubs aren't loyal to players? Westerveld was rudely shown the shaft as have many others. Should they act just as unloyaly - it's clearly in their interest to do so.
so is gerrard a vagina? I think not. Further, I think that the whole situation is fairly complicated and both sides kind of wanted gerrard to go but no one could come out and say it so we ended up with this mess. We don't and never will know all the details.
on the upside- captain carragher! well-deserved. take note you fucking swede!
