Couple things....
- There is no point in actually producing CD single physically anymore. I don’t even have a CD player anymore. That includes my cars. Eventually they won’t even make albums on CDs.
- Holy Mountain is a big solo hit for Noel. Yes it “only” got to #31 but it lasted in the charts for 10 weeks. That is a long time for a wrinkled old Noel Gallagher. When I saw Noel in Camden this summer it was the song that got the crowd most fired up outside Oasis material.
- Just because some people on Twitter or this forum bang the pots and the pans the loudest doesn’t actually mean anything they are saying is actually valid. The great myth that Holy Mountain got a terrible reaction and MOON didn’t sell are extremely inaccurate when using what limited data tools are remaining (streams, physical sales, chart placement, tour sales).
- Most artist as time goes on and they get older sell less and less of their products. It happens to everyone. So it’s really not fair to Oasis or Liam or Noel and compare it to their previous glory days. As long as the artists are happy making music and sharing it is all that should matter.
- Nobody is making anyone listen to Noel or Liam. If you think the party is over you can easily move along or jam out to the older material.
- It’s been a tremendous run with this band and brothers. Let’s all just try and enjoy it in our golden years.

I look forward to some new releases......I don't expect Noël's new music to be the best ever; it's probably my age.....I think a lot of the people banging the pots and pans are really young.... Also, the U.K. isn't the nexxus of the universe; I'm the only American who knows the countries which make up the U.K - seriously, ask an American if they know, they won't.... Thanks.

I like Noel's new direction and am happy he's happy with what he's doing. Do I prefer the recent stuff to the first two albums? No, but I don't care. Deep down, I wish Noel would have put out Lonerism over WBTM,but again I think he's done well going into this genre.
That being said, while he's fully jumped into the pool, he's dipped his toes in before. Whether Setting Sun, Let Forever Be, Falling Down Chemical Bros mix, AKAWAL or TBOTMI. I prefer most of that to what he is putting out now.
The very pro-Noel people will tell me it's because I'm not sophisticated or I just can't fully accept or fully assimilate towards the new type of music he's doing. The very anti-Noel people will tell me its just because the newer songs themselves, regardless of their sound, aren't up to snuff.
Is it one or the other or somewhere in between? I don't know. All I know is it won't stop me from being excited for new releases or enjoying his new stuff. Maybe I won't enjoy it to its absolute fullest, but I will still enjoy it enough and that has me thrilled. Bring it on.

To be fair, both Mossy and I provided data and arguments. We've answered Mono's questions several times with reasoned responses. Not much else to say really... Lol. I am not the one who needs private lessons in how the music industry works and how to find out whether an artist is successful or not. How well exactly are we expecting a 52-year-old to be faring in the modern music scene, after 25 years in the business? Maybe as good as the other brother? Couple things.... - There is no point in actually producing CD single physically anymore. I don’t even have a CD player anymore. That includes my cars. Eventually they won’t even make albums on CDs. I also think a lot of people have taken the “unsophisticated” remarks as a dig at Oasis music. I don’t think Noel meant that. Oasis songs (for the most part) weren’t unsophisticated. Brash and direct, yes. But they were tightly-structured and elegant - that’s what set them apart.
I think labelling Liam’s solo fans as unsophisticated is harsh, but not all Oasis fans are Liam solo fans. I love Oasis and Liam’s music doesn’t interest me at all.
By all means take issue with Noel ribbing fans who only want him to do his 90s thing, but I don’t think it means he’s washing his hands of Oasis’ legacy.

I love them both.
I'm VERY happy with new Liam music and I loved so much Who Built The Moon? I think it's a masterpiece of album. Has it been less successful? Maybe it's not as radio friendly as the previous two... bar HM. I hated, hated HM... now I like it so much. The EP material it's not that good for me... but Im super hyped for the new proper album!
I have seen Noel in Pistoia this summer. The firs half of the show has been FANTASTIC. The wbtm tunes are amazing live and the band... wow! Yes, the crowd did not singalong... a lot of people were there for the Oasis tunes.
But: who cares?
Dylan (has a lot of hit!) changes the melody of his popular songs and don't give a fuck about the fan. He plays what he wants and how he desires.
Noel is free to do what he likes. And - I'm happy - I loved so much his last album. I don't care about charts. It's perfect for me.
I don't like his last interview... but the music is what matters to me.
Liam: AWY is a great album and Once is for me the best Liam/Noel tune after the split.
I'm SO happy to live this time as Oasis fan. Ok, the Ep could have been better in my opinion but their aren't the proper album... I'm not 'worried' at all for Noel career :-)
I don't see the point of this everlasting Liam vs Noel. I listen their music and makes me happy.
Why offend others Oasis fans? I don't get it.
"I'm free to be whatever I Whatever I choose And I'll sing the blues if I want"

If you really want to find negative stats for Noel, you're going to find them - same goes for any artist. How is "not as big as singles from the other albums" any measure of success other than success for your crusade of finding facts and evidence of Noel's so called backlash.

Perhaps I'm looking too much into this on social media and posts on here to an extent, but the backlash against Noel is reaching its peak from what I can see. In fact I haven't seen a lot of positive reaction to anything he has done since Chasing Yesterday. With WBTM I remember this place was completely divided and people HATED Holy Mountain. I don't really think Noel has gone that "far out" if you can call it that, he's dipping a bit into different genres of music and seeing what happens. So, is the consensus among Oasis fans that he's shit until he goes back to what he is know for, or is it because of the whole Noel / Liam divide, with fans being more favourable towards Liam? Holy Mountain is the song with his most sucessful chart run after WAL, by some distance. Peaked at 31 and charted for 10 weeks (https://www.officialcharts.com/search/singles/holy-mountain/). Much better run than ITHOTM, TDOTL, IIHAG, Riverman and all the other "classical" Noel singles. So if people in this forum hated Holy Mountain (or, more precisely, was divided about it), then maybe it's because this forum is not representative of the hundreths of thousands of Oasis fans out there. It's representative of course of us: a certain type of die-hard fan, very limited in number up to the point of being probably irrelevant from the commercial point of view. Most 'oasis fans' do not go to forums and social media to argue with strangers about the way Noel and the band bow after a concert, or to overanalyze the meaning of a sentence in his last interview, as we do. And the data simply does not match that "big backslash after WBTM" narrative: WBTM sales were as as strong as CY, and tickets for the shows sold as well or better. This was true with concerts were heavily based on new material. Outside of the fanbase, the album had more positive reviews than all the albums he was involved since the 90s and it was nominated for the Mercury. So no surprise Noel does not seem worried Honestly didn't know how successful his sales and chart run has been since WBTM. I know chart sales aren't indicative of success, or even of good music, but it does indeed show people like what he's doing.
