Ok so it's confirmed the lyrics are not Liam's. I guess this means the video they were shooting is for Once right? As this song is not really about them. Their childhood and stuff. I have to admit i thought it weird that they were shooting a childhood album for One of Us, it fits better with "once" themes. not sure, I mean Once is about not being able to relive the past which is pretty universal. One of Us is more specifically talking about someone close from past who has changed, I'd say that is more applicable to the video. I guess you could make it fit either though. I think it will be One of Us though, the moment has passed for a Once video.

sorry ! In topic : It almost sound like they took the "in time" bit in shockwave and put it on this song to me. which is weird. Have to admit some of the delivery sounds stitched together. I said months ago about my reservations about how quick everything has been done and i hate to be like told you so cos theres no one who wanted it to be flawless more than me. But its not giving the songs the full potential by doing things the way they did over a couple of weeks. Agreed, this album feels very rushed. As you Were had a a close to perfect production (cept wall of glass), but this time, i'm "amazed" how low quality those recording are. They all sound overcompressed, Liam's voice especially. One of us with drums and bass with the sound quality from This Is the Place would be huge. The strings are not done right as well, they should be way more present, like in For what it's Worth for instance, which to me, is the perfect mix on any Liam's solo song released so far. The work done on that track is amazing. or Paper Crown.

It's like they tried to make a supermarket friendly album instead of unleashing Liam's full potential. I almost miss Beady Eye in this regard. Wigwam and Morning Son come to mind.

Nobody is coming to hear him advance the genre. This is a guy who likes to rock and to roll. This is all exactly how I imagined a Liam solo career going and sounding. I had to wait patiently for it but I eventually got what I desired. If anything Liam is an evil Hamlet.

He will never be that way.

So far, those tracks suffer when you push them a bit. S'all i'm saying. it's not that's it's bad, just that it sounds like demos that have been enhanced with strings and additional work. As for the SOTSOG debate, and the gospel vibe of One Of Us, i hope, really hope Oasis has a recorded version of Solve My Mystery the gospel way, as Noel one described it.

"As you Were had a a close to perfect production" WTF. A salad of songs, mixes, drum machine loops and pitched copy paste o liam choruses. Perfect in that way, did you say? For sure.
This time is far more professional. Not the best (for our good taste) edit or structures, kind of pop non-anthemic song, but works perfect for me, thinking in Liam today. Did you think why the songs doesn't have proper solos? Theres no Noel anymore, and finally Liam (team) realize there's another road, a new one; maybe a better one.
He want to fill Knebworth next year? this is the right way. Good songs. Oasis songs were epic, full of glory, solos, wall of sound, etc. BUT FIRST they are good songs. Enough. (well, Shockwave is not really that kind of "good song", but at least is the first one)

We do have Solve My Mystery recorded by Oasis as a gospel tune. It was the leaked demo from January 2000!!! That’s what it would sound like which is millions of miles better than the NG solo attempt. That was the problem with Wheeler End as Noel often said. Their demo run throughs were often better than the re-recorded studio version.

The demo is flat.

So they probably went farther than this demo. SOTOSG 20 anniversary release is not that far off anyway, we'll know next year. But that demo is huge yeah, way better than the released version

It’s very straight forward. All those demos from 2000 that were eventually released officially down the road pretty much sound like the demo. I wouldn’t get ur hopes up.

Well if you look at the demo CD, all the songs on that have been re-recorded or finished bar it's a Crime, which is an acoustic demo. Why wouldn't they have done SMM too ? I bet they did, but either did not fit or the Blur thing.

They don’t really sound alike besides that both songs were different at the times for each group. The only difference is tender is a monster of a tune. One of blurs very best. SMM is just a b-side. If it wasn’t for Sardy, LTBL wouldn’t have come out with oasis either.

Maybe they did not get it right but since it was leaked and people asked, he found that excuse. Anyway, pretty excited by that release, Noel recorded a lot during that time so maybe we'll get some nice rarities. Or just the demos we already have

Just slaps of laziness.

I don’t judge this either way, but One of Us could very well have been on Hard-Fi’s second album. This tune has Hard-Fi all over it. Suburban Knights. Except the below has a big fuck orrrfffffff chorus, as well as a killer guitar than I can play on the air when I rock out. [Damn it, Liam]. Used to bloody love Hard fi!!!

People whinging about the production should remember that Andrew Wyatt is the one responsible for everything here.
Most of AYW was produced by Dan *insert surname I can never remember* with Greg Kurstin doing Wall of Glass and Come Back To Me. Dan's production was spot on for Liam's sound.

Listened to it today for the first time. I wanted the first listen to be a proper car test. It’s decent, catchy, nice enough. Which is basically the exact same thing I had to say about all the other WMWN songs to date. They’re not bad but they don’t make me care the way all the other songs on other albums did.
I liked the River best because it was most fresh and lively, and it didn’t have the same lyrical theme as all the others (including OOU - first time using that?) whether or not the song is about Noel doesn’t matter, it’s just getting old the same way Noel’s reiterations of female divinity kind of are. That’s why I like Sail On best of Noel’s, followed by This is the Place.
Liam did this one unplugged didn’t he? Would be nice to hear it done stripped back.

I think I fucking overplayd it but it was raw improvisation.
