Still holding out hope that the video of the kids on the marsh is for Once and that One of Us has a less nostalgic video to match it’s brightness. It seems that through production everything we’ve heard so far has come out the other side with a radio friendly filter on it. Not a bad thing for this one but looking forward to hearing the live version as always. It’s a good 7 for me, probably due to the instrumental parts which are fantastic. Liam’s vocals sound very strong. The River 9 > Once 9 > Shockwave 8 > One of Us 7 Seems we have a great album to look forward to. My favourites are heavy bangers or gentle ballads so I’m looking forward to hearing it taken down to an acoustic ballad for your cover Rolo

This might sound weird but in Oasis you never felt like Liam was singing someone elses songs. Now when i listen i can totally see him looking down at the words as he sings. The fact that he can deliver someone elses words with such conviction and sincerity I actually find impressive. And for the most part, he was doing exactly that in Oasis. In the early days, I doubt he was contributing anything other than the voice. And in the latter days of the band, unless it was something he wrote, it was surely the same? Unless he wrote it, I doubt he had much input at all. I don't see how that's much different now tbh.

Haha he had a screen telling him the Oasis lyrics when he was still in Oasis ffs. I disagree with fartpanic, but remembering the lines live is different from feeling them in the studio.

Fairly certain these lyrics are intentional. Liam knows how to stoke the fire and get people talking. It creates its own buzz. It's just a bit of fun trying to guess what happened 16 years ago and who is Geordie (?).

Lyrics for the choon hiah
One of us riding nowhere Spending someone's Hard earned pay One of us Sunday driving Not arriving On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home One of us sending postcards Writing letters On my wall You and me burning matches Lifting latches On our way back home We're on our way home

Yeah I'm having this after repeated listens. Ian Brown vibes. A bit of a See the Sun feel. Groovy.

Is this entirely about Noel? The line "Hey kid did you know, today 16 years ago, it was you and I for the last time..." seems like it could be looking back to when he last saw/spoke to Noel IF it had actually been 16 years since the split and the fallout, but it hasn't. He's definitely talking about that time the German police pulled his teeth out with pliers and George is the name of the dentist who helped him

Thats why i said felt like. Champagne supernova doesnt sound at all like hes looking down at words. I think some of these do. Nice of the plods to like any response to me again.

Haha he had a screen telling him the Oasis lyrics when he was still in Oasis ffs. He isnt constantly looking down at words in any Oasis live videos ive seen. Certainly not anything before 2005. He massively disrupts his flow and confidence live singing new songs because he hasnt bothered to learn them properly. This is a major issue i have, amongst others, with him just churning out other writers tunes. He is just seeing it as 11 songs he can bung together and doesnt have any sort of attachment to them. Im not saying he never read oasis lyrics in the studio. Of course he fucking did cos they aren't his songs. What im saying is made them just as much his with the delivery. Fuck me this place is touchy as fuck.

It really should have had another verse at the end the outro was too long but the first 3 quarters were amazing. Really love it that’s 4 from 4 fantastic tunes! However, Once is still BY FAR the best song, it’s the best bloody song since the early oasis days nothing will come close.
I give One of Us 8/10
Once is 9.5 almost 10/10

Andrew Wyatt, biggest con artist since Mark Ronson. Good tune though and great production ! This is a bit of a catch 22 for me. Yes, he has on board one of the top writers possible. But if you has just written Live Forever, would you give it to one of your artists who are peaking at 20 in the charts and in the latter days of their career or give it a young pop star in their peak? The biggest issue i have with alot of the songs, bar once, is it doesnt seem to be the writers best tunes. Its more - what does an oasis song do. Rip off a bit of another song, check. Beatles names in lyrics, check etc etc.

They are cooking shit up based on a collaboration to some degree. And yes I get it, we all wanted Shallow on Liam's second LP.

Well this is the deal with Warner, shut up and sing and we will save you. Pretty obvious. In the end it makes the tunes a bit soulless. They're fun and enjoyable, but dont mean anything.

But when Liam is writing better tunes than some of the songs hes being given, there is something not quite right. I love Chinatown for instance, but whoever written that has decided to put questionable lyrics in to basically mimic Liams (at times) basic style. The happiness is still a warm gun line is unecessary as fuck. Stuff like that is my biggest issue.
