Probably haven't heard Once enough yet, but right now I give WTSRTS the edge simply because it less direct and in-your-face, ever so slightly more clever and ambitious. Once is pretty good at what it does, but 100% straightforward ballads are really difficult to pull off. If you make them more mysterious, add more twists and turns, and generally eschew hitting your audience over the head, you're gonna end up with something at the very least more interesting, and at the most far more powerful than any straightforward ballad.
