Yeh that was a bit jarring. Suppose they'd covered the rise, though. The thing with Oasis is they never really fell. They just ended. Would have been nice to see some Wembley 2000 footage maybe, and perhaps the Etihad gigs. They only had half hour though. Starting to feel that the 00's Oasis is being forgotten about or whitewashed for their history. Sort of the same thing with the Stones only they have had 40 years of post-peak music to ignore. Feel exactly the same. Supersonic and everything surrounding that film did it. Yes, i get the focus of the film was that period but the way Oasis in general is spoken about after is like nothing good happened after 96.

Here, they remained one of the biggest bands and are now the biggest without doing anything. I just hate the way all them songs and gigs that gave us all so many memories are being spoken of by people in the band and around the band as pointless.

I haven't seen one former member of the band say that post 2000 they were crap or that the gigs were crap.
Noel and Liam have both commented on how 1999-2002 was a bit rough, not just in the band but also their lives, but 2002 onwards is always mentioned with great fondness if it is indeed brought up.
In regards to the show last night, it just wasn't really needed. It was Noel's story, not the story of Oasis, at the end of the day, so the solo stuff had to fill a relatively big part.

Unpopular opinion #445656
Rock n Roll Star from the evening session in 2000 is the best live version. I'll be off then.

Bonehead says in Supersonic "we should have called it a day straight after kneborth", as has Noel on occasions. Then last year Liam said he will play the first 3 albums in full on tour because "No one gives a shit after that". There are other examples but they're ones off too of my head. But anyway, I'm mainly talking mainly about media. This show followed a very similar narrative to what Supersonic did in terms of just doing 95-97 and then the split. I think we all feel like in retrospect this is all anyone's focused on since the band split up. When there's so much more that we all remember. Especially as the band have now crossed over so many generations.

Especially as the band have now crossed over so many generations. Tbf, I think that's just more in hindsight. Noel's said tons of times that he had the time of his life on BHN, but really - and it's hard to argue - the band should have taken their foot off the pedal after Knebworth. They were a monolith spiralling out of control. I do agree with the media thing, but I don't think it's a consented narrative. It's just that really the most interesting part of Oasis was the rise, because the band never really 'fell' as such. There was a dip, but at least in the UK they stayed massive and are now even bigger than before. So from the perspective of people who aren't superfans, do they really have to care about that 00-09 period? As much as we'd all like to see it.

Ffs Dermot opened it up for Noel to big up BHN there!
Dermot asked that question like that on purpose, he knows.

Just finished watching this. Loved it, Noel on top form here.
I think with BHN it's the fact that he knew Oasis were on top of the world before this album and they fucked it up.
