So it’s finally surfaced 2 days before official release and it’s on YouTube...
I typed up the lyrics and they are breathtaking - the tune of the verses does remind me of I Miss You by Blink 182 mind 😂
Sail on Tell the girl behind the counter that I loved her once but soon I must be gone Sail on Tell the world I’m gonna miss them but I’ve gone to find a place where I belong
Will you make up your mind? I’ll tell you all my secrets as we slip between the city streets tonight Will you say your goodbyes? Don’t let them see the tears that sparkle in your eyes
Why’re you sick and tired of feeling sorry for yourself? Life will chew you up and spit you out and put you on the shelf And you will wake up every morning, expecting to be free, you’ve gotta float on....
Sail on Tell the girl behind the counter that I loved her once but soon I must be gone Sail on Tell the world I’m gonna miss them but I’ve gone to find a place where I belong
‘N’ time is on loan All the hopes and dreams you had were left behind and taken by the storm It won’t be long ‘N’ all the pain that’s in your life will soon be gone
Why’re you sick and tired of feeling sorry for yourself? Life will chew you up and spit you out and put you on the shelf And you were woke a million times, you were expecting to be free, you’ve gotta float on...outta here...you and I...
We’ll sail on Tell the girl behind the counter that I loved her once but soon I must be gone Sail on Tell the world I’m gonna miss them but I’ve gone to find a place where I belong Sail on Tell the girl behind the counter that I loved her once but soon I must be gone Sail on Tell the world I’m gonna miss them but I’ve gone to find a place where I belong Sail on Tell the girl behind the counter that I loved her once but soon I must be gone Sail on Tell the world I’m gonna miss them but I’ve gone to find a place where I belong Sail on
N.B. Apologies in advance if this has already been posted elsewhere on the forum /shouldn’t be on here. Haven’t been on the site anywhere near as much as I used to

Is it posted elsewhere or this a strangely silent reaction to a new tune???
Nice that.

Noel Gallagher goes Frank Turner.
Heh. Too bland. Noel is better than this.

I love this song. It's rekindled my faith in Noel's songwriting after the rest of the the songs on this EP.

its about time we had a tune like this to remind us there is a brilliant songwriter buried beneath the cosmic pop astronaut he's turned into

This is probably a dumb question but is that ysee or Noel doing the harmony vocal? Sometimes I think it's him sometimes I think it's her

I like a lot Noel's ballads... but honestly i think it's shit melody and shitty too fucking obvious lyrics...
worst NGHFB song in history for me...
first listen, let's see if it's a grower

On the first listen it is the best song ever, but in a few days I won't listen to it anymore.

the intro of "sail on" reminds me of "present tens" of Radiohead!

I’m not a big fan of what Noel’s done recently, although I do dig Rattling Rose. The production on this sounds like overt pop; plus the song reminds me of a mix of Mumford and Sons/The Lumineers. 🤮

I guess this is bound to feel like regression to fans of Cosmic Noel, but I'm loving it. It does have that Mumford/Lumineers/Bombadil pseudo-Americana feel, but then I dig that sound, so no complaints from me

Inoffensive mid 2000s middling department store playlist track. Simples.

Beautiful tune. My favourite Noel song in a while. Would have made a belting b side back in the 90s.

He's basically taken everything good about It's Better People and replaced it with a ukulele. It sounds like music for a nappy advert.

love the song. i could listen to it over and over again and it's not getting boring. lyrically, it's in a similar vein as while the song remains the same. it's sad and positive at the same time.
