Months later and I keep coming back to Timebomb and Automatic. Rest of the album is great, but I can’t lie about what my heart and head want.
Also, re-discovered Start The Machine AND The Machine. That song (songs?) has probably been played every day for the last year or so. Something so ambitious, emotional, sad, yet excited for the future about it. LOVE IT.

I'll be honest, I love Timebomb, Euphoria, Automatic and Losing My Mind. The rest are pretty weak imo
I'm bored of the original releases (Rebel Girl etc)

Hey bro! The ONE other guy who loves AVA on here. Haha, anyway….Did you get see them on this tour? I had DC tickets but got Covid so I missed it. Think they are coming your way to the UK soon, but not sure if they are in your flight path or not

Oh, I never realized there's actually a thread about AVA on the forum. I really like them, too, but as a German, I have some sort of a love-hate relationship with some of their songs, e. g. Epic Holiday, because Til Schweiger (German actor and director) tends to use them in his movies frequently. Obviously, that's not the band's fault and it's also kind of awesome that they've been getting some attention in Germany through this but it's still a pity because those movies are a bunch of mediocre to shit cinema productions. Anyway, AVA themselves are fantastic and I'm looking forward to the tour (fingers crossed that it'll still happen despite the pandemic).

AVA getting a lot of hate online (eg, Reddit) about cancelling European tour due to COVID. Also folks saying Empire Club is a scam. I’ve only discovered them like 3 years ago, so I don’t have a hard opinion. Love the music, but not sure what the vitriol is all about.

The club thing is definitely not worth it, I don't know why anyone would sign up to be honest.
But yeh, I was meant to see them next month, first time in 10 years. Absolutely gutted

So Tom is back in Blink-182. I guess I'm excited, although I really enjoy almost everything AVA has done and now that I'm 45 years old, songs about poopie just aren't as stimulating. But hey, let's hope it's good music.
New album and world tour (coming to DC!) also. Never seen them or AVA live, so that should be cool.
Thoughts all?

I’m a little surprised Tom came back. Haven’t listened to them in a while though. I feel like he keeps leaving then coming back then leaving again. Granted, I haven’t followed the band since 2017 so I have no clue if that’s true.

The last two Blink albums are not including him, yet they do have a few good tunes IMO. It’s safe to go back to Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs, both with Tom, and then set that as the new starting point.

Actually I feel like the new starting point might be somewhere between TOYPAJ and selftitled, because the new song feels like something from the early 00s but with modern production. I used to be a huge blink fan but lost interest when they came back with Neighborhoods, it's a style of music that doesn't resonate with me anymore and feels very forced sometimes. Still their early albums (from Dude Ranch to selftitled) will always be very special to me, even if I never listen to them anymore, because they remember me of being a teenager. The new song sounds quite good, definitely sounds like a solid comeback, my 20 years old past self would've loved it.

The only song I like by Blink 182 is All The Small Things, now that's a good song.

I’d give new single a 6/10. It’s very early 2000s Blink but feels like a bit of a throwaway. Strange pick for a comeback single, but I’m guessing it’s a song they either had on the shelf or was put together quickly. Anyway, I guess I’m glad to have them back despite my love for AVA’s more modern sound

I got tickets to see Blink 182 in London next October which should be great and it’ll also mark 20 years since I last saw them!
With that said I’m in the minority who much prefers Angels & Airwaves over Blink and was gutted when their tour got cancelled earlier this year. I guess this means that won’t be rescheduled for a while!

I am indeed hoping most of the new Blink album is Tom-written. Not a lot of Mark songs really pop off for me.

Have played a few Matt-era songs in the first few shows. I think it only fair they do The Adventure at least. Let’s have a little give and take, huh Or Start the Machine
