I've been wondering this for years, why exactly are Definitely Maybe and WTSMG double albums? They're not particularly long I don't think, surely there are single LPs longer than either of them? It makes me not bother playing them a lot of the time, I feel like Liam on stage getting up and down; a yo-yo, as it were.

This is probably off-topic for this forum, BUT, to answer your question: it sorta depends who you ask. Some audiophiles will tell you that spacing the grooves out on vinyl discs allows more room for higher-fidelity sound, so the quality is improved. But I'll tell you that labels would more likely love to charge you for 2 discs when possible. I agree that it's annoying to turn a single album into a double LP.

The more tracks you squeeze onto a single side of vinyl the worse the sound quality is. That is why you see more and more bands spacing an album out over two LPs. Especially since most albums today go over the 45 min limit for proper sounding vinyl.

Fun fact: "The Wall" had to be cut to fit on two LPs
