The question is what should we compare it with? We could compare it with classic Oasis anthems like Some Might Say, Supersonic, Live Forever. If so then it's shite. We could compare it with Noel's previous solo stuff, like Death Of You And Me, Riverman, What A Life. If so then it's shite. So I don’t know why people are getting so hysterical over Noel of late. The problem with this song is it’s got more in common with the blandness of his first two solo albums - turgid indie rock dressed up as something different. His problem isn’t that he’s ‘a different songwriter’ from those days, it’s that he’s not different enough and he’s still not taking big enough risks judging on this song. |

What’s the quality for the digital download single or preorder? Is there a FLAC option? The file that comes with the vinyl is a 320 kbps mp3. I'll wait until release and then buy the whole thing lossless on Qobuz or 7digital. It's available at 24/96 and 16/44.1 from Qobuz in the US and UK, and at 16/44.1 on 7digital UK. |

I agree, sounds like something he would have made in 2015 to be a bit different, without Holmes there to really push him and give his tunes a noisy energy. Listened to it a few more times since yesterday. Sonically it's very interesting, I love the Nile Rodgers-y guitar in the second verse and the interplay between the two vocalists.
This actually sounds different for Noel. I feel like he chatted a lot of shit when WBTM came out about how out there and experimental it was, when really apart from a couple of tracks it was standard Noely G.

I get what he's trying to do and I'm glad he's trying something different.
Rating BSD is relative depending on what you're comparing it to.
If you're hoping for another TMWBTM or DITW it's a 1.
If you're hoping for something different and new it's a 5. Good attempt but it didn't quite take off for me. It had a load of potential though.

i prefer this over every recent noel adventure song. this is probably my favourite gallagher song since 'the death of you and me' I really hope Liam goes this way with album 2 as opposed to 7 anthemic songs along the lines of FWIW and then a few generic rockers. |

The main thing that was different about WBTM was his approach. The songs - Fort Knox apart maybe - weren't that far out there. This one isn't far out either, like. For me it’s a 4..I think it’s a bit tuneless ie not enough melody and certainly not living up to or at least referencing the influencers he cited..underwhelmed Weirdly enough I think it's as melodic as anything off WBTM, bar DITW. It's a nice change in direction for me. It's a decent song with some very good bits. So a 7 is probably fair for me. But yeh, opinions. See for me a decent song with a few good bits gets a 5. |
