I think it's got a pretty good chorus and I like the little guitar lick after Noel sings "we can ride all night'-pretty funky for a 52-year-old. I find the verses a bit twee sounding.

After giving it some time to be sure I can officially claim this to be the worst single Noel ever released.

You guys all act like Noel is Dirk Diggler at the very very end of Boogie Nights in the dressing room. Much like Dirk, Noel’s still got a lot to give.

The we can ride all night part. I'm not that keen on the female vocal part that follows. Being totally serious here: Which part do you consider the chorus? I think it's the girls singing part...right?

Its a shame but I couldnt really care less about these EPs. these songs are fun listens for about two or three times and then I forget about them. I know it's semantics, but how can you actually say 'EPs'. You've heard 2 of 3 songs off the first EP. There's another two EPs to come and we have no idea what they will sound like other than some vague Noel hints. You're writing off an album's worth of material without hearing it.

Again, until you hear all the songs I don't know how you can say that. There's another two EPs to come which could both have a totally different sound. You might really even like Sail On when it comes out on Friday, even if you don't like BSD or Rattling Rose (which is definitely no more 'throwaway' than half of the material released by the Gallaghers since 2000, but I digress).

I am getting excited about an album I cant possibly know will be good vs not getting excited about an albums worth of material that I cant possibly know will be all bad. Noel simply hasnt sparked my interest so therefore I dont care until he does. Its perfectly simple. Its not like Im not going to even try any new songs or automatically dislike any new songs just because I dont like the first two. I highly doubt you are going through the liam hype threads and telling people "how can you possibly know it will be good, you might think the next song is shit" simply because people are excited for the album they havnt heard. As Ive said, its exactly the same thing, just in the opposite direction.

Updating my vote from 6 to 7. I’ve been listening to this every day and liking it more and more. Noel’s voice sounds great in the pre-chorus and the guitar solo is pretty fucking cool

And we can ride on We can ride all night It's part of the game now And we can ride on We can ride on You make me shine like a black star dancing We're one and the same now
To me it seems like Noel is the pre- chorus and Ysee the chorus because of the way his vocals build up but definitely debatable

If no one really knows which part is the chorus, then you're doing something wrong Noel... Follow your own advice and write a fucking chorus!

The Ysee part is quite nice. I wish it continued through the last four refrains / the outro. I need to talk to Reflex about getting that fixed up.
Mind-boggling the 12” inch version decided to cut her out the second time around.

The actual new EPs are what count, surely? And of those 9-11 songs that we know will be released over the course of them, we've heard 2 songs.

I just thought you'd phrased it like 'well they're all crap' without hearing it.

Agree, certainly not among his best solo songs but does not deserve the stick it gets. It's all about expectations: people were expecting the level of quality of the first single of a proper NGHFB album, while this EP is more like an excuse to promote the live shows. But it's much better to get these songs in EPs between albums than Noel shelving them as usual. And, frankly, we have requesting this for years

I’ve never requested for Noel to put out anything he writes and I’m not the only one there, I’m sure. He can keep all the duds. Of course we expect his first single to be of first single quality. This is still the first thing we’ve heard from these EPs and I expect more from who I consider to be the best songwriter of the last 30 odd years. His last 2 lead singles have been abysmal. He’s going soft in his 50s and don’t give me that ‘trying new things’ craic either.

I prefer to have them

People still seem to be expecting these tracks to be anything other than what they are - throwaways that aren't good enough to make an album but can fit with some remixes for some bonus music on the side. If the lead single for LP4 is on this level I'll be disappointed, but for these EPs they're about as good as I expect. I'm happy to have them, even if I don't think they're amazing.

I think they're incredible windows into Noel as an artist, honestly. Not the best songs in the world, but they tell us something about what sounds Noel is playing with.

I'd pay top dollar to watch a tour doc of Noel and James Murphy's ego over a 5 month tour.
