they lost again - that's six in a row  too bad big stein can't throw some money out and by some more flops. AL east is still wide open and it looks like the o's are coming back to earth now. |

LETS GO METS ;D the yankees had a choice of throwing 18 million at either a 27 year old superstar centerfeilder in beltran but decided to spend it on a 41 year old pitcher with a bad groin and no cartlidge in his knee ;D..i honestly think the dynasty is dead..i think the sox will win the division or maybe toronto they look good |

Eh, the mets didn't have a tremendous payroll in 2000, mind you it was still up among tops in the league...but think of the outfield we had in 2000: Jay Payton, Benny Agbayani, Timo Perez/Derek Bell  THAT outfield took us to the playoffs...and Timo Perez was only really a September call up that caught fire. Otherwise, big contracts on that team belonged to: Piazza, Hampton and Leiter really. Now that I think of it, jeez, look at a few of the names on that roster - how the hell did we make it to the Series!! Ordonez/Bordick (Bordick was a miserable offensive player for the Mets after he was acquired), Kurt Abbott, Bubba Trammell...ugh that was truly an overachieving bunch. PS - Mets beat the Giants today...I know it's the Giants, but the Mets are starting to come around...I was at the game the other night where Pedro mowed down the D-Backs, loved every second of it, right down to the sprinklers coming on in the middle of the first inning...it's nice to have somewhat of a winning team while the Yanks are stuck at .500 (27-27) |
