How good does You Do Something to Me sound in that trailer?! The added brass makes the chorus sound kind of...raunchy.

'Boy About Town' up on the streaming sites:
Sounds pretty well mixed to my ears. Like the keyboards. And Weller's voice sounds in good nick.

Sounds pretty well mixed to my ears. Like the keyboards. And Weller's voice sounds in good nick. I'm not lying, I had to think which song it would be when he started to sing it back last October. Same as Private Hell. I was like "I know this song...this song..this song..." for a few seconds, then I was like "F**king hell!". What a beautiful moment was that!

mimmihopps, yeah, I got mine through the post yesterday. Isn't it great? Respect to Jan 'Stan' Kybert. It's an ace mix, with space in it to fit all the instruments (the flutes and clarinets sound particularly lovely floating in and out). And, obviously, much kudos to Hannah Peel for working out the arrangements with Weller and his band. I need a few more listens, but so far I love 'One Bright Star', 'Wild Wood', and 'Tales from the Riverbank'.

I watched the DVD last night and been listening to the live album again and again since yesterday. Brilliant performance and outstanding mix. It brings me the beautiful memory of his Utrecht and Rotterdam gigs back which was placed a couple of days earlier than this London show.

Can't get enough of this live album. The first class performance and co-operation by Weller, his band and talented musicians like Erland Cooper, Hannah Peel and Lucy Rose.
"Rome wasn't built in a day", I would say.

Earlier this year I was listening to Heavy Soul a lot and “Brushed” stuck out as my favourite but usually “mermaids”, “science”, and “up in Susie’s room”. Of course the title track is terrific.

My favourites from this album are: Heavy Soul Peacock Suit (which he still plays at every gig) Up In Suze's Room (also a "regular" for his gigs) Brushed Friday Street (which came back on his set list since a couple of years) Science Mermaide Many people say that Wild Wood is one of his best albums, but to me Heavy Soul beats Wild Wood. A terrific album and this album never gets old.

Blackbarn session episode one is up on youtube. So happy with Brushed. Hopefully he'll add it to his setlist next year.

The Black Barn Sessions Part 2
Part 3
Wish he'll change his Bowie-like hair cut, but still so in full energy at age 61!
See you in 4 months again, Mr. Weller.

I listened to Other Aspects a couple times last weekend. It makes me feel more than ever that True Meanings is a top 3 Weller album for me. It’s such a beautifully nuanced, heartfelt record.

Seems like the next Weller record will be out in May/June time?
I got this MOJO Weller special magazine which compiles all their interviews with him from the 90s thru to last year. He talks about having a track called Mirrorball as the opener for the next record. It sounds a bit mental, bit of psychedelic disco!
Wonder if we’ll get a single in March/April?

Good for you, that will be brilliant 👏🏻 I was all set to get tickets for Barrowlands on May 9th, but we have a baby due a few days before so that ruled me out. Hopefully get a chance again soon. Can’t wait for the new album, got back into Weller massively in the past few years after being more of a casual fan before.

Just getting into 22 Dreams now having never listened to it before. Feel slightly embarrassed to admit that! I kinda gave up after Heliocentric maybe back in the day.
Great to have material that is “new” to me to work through though

Weller seems to struggle adding new fans these days, and a lot of his old fans seem to only have a passing interest, turning up to gigs but not singing along to anything post- Stanley Road. Nice to have you on board
You said above that you were getting into 22 Dreams. Great record that deserved all its plaudits, but have you heard Sonik Kicks from 2012? Just listening to a bit of that now while I'm ripping all our old CDs in lossless, and it's got some fantastic stuff on there. 'By the Waters' is a beauty, and then you've got stuff like 'Kling I Klang' which is wonderfully strange.

Not for me! I do agree about Sonik Kicks. This album was a kind of fresh start for the man self. To me Wake Up The Nation was the weakest album post 2000. It's still a good album, but you can't deny that he was having hard times during making this record by his dad being seriously ill and his personal issue (heavy drinking habit). I saw him 3 times in 2010 and I must say he wasn't very happy with his performance although all 3 gigs were more than great to me. He dedicated this album to late Amy Winehouse.

It's a bit surprising to me that True Meanings has gotten lower metacritic than both Kind Revolution and Saturns Pattern.
