Okay, so this week is a cult band from Brisbane, Australia that were led by Rober Forster and Grant McLennan. A typical sounding indie/jangle pop band, they combine beauty and melancholy, but differ from the likes of R.E.M. and The Smiths with lyrics that are largely haunting in my opinion (see Cattle and Cane).

Sadly, Grant McLennan (who wrote probably their most well known tunes) died in 2006 from a heart attack so the band is no more but their brand of charming pop with haunting, mystical tunes resonates and the lack of success makes them an odd peculiarity in indie pop circles.

Fantastic band, one of the few who split and then got back together but still released fantastic work. Everything from 2nd album Before Hollywood to 1988's 16 Lover's Lane is must buy. Also throw in 2005's Ocean's Apart, and you got the best of The Go Between to be honest. Grant McLennan and Robert Forster are fantastic songwriter's, sadly McLennan passed away. If anyone dipping in to the band on first go, I'd say go with 16 Lover's Lane first, it's their most commercial album imo.

I voted 3/5 - I think they sound good if you're into that genre, but I was never such a big jangle-rock fan in the first place. The production and lyrics and performances are all good, but I can't see myself rushing back to listen to them. That Way was probably my favourite of the posted tracks, I enjoyed the slightly more robust riff.
