Let's compile a list for those bands releasing albums this coming year (2019). Ideally, I'm mainly looking for the big names - but of course list whoever you want.
Include the name of the band, the name of the album, and the release date if currently known.
Busted - Halfway There (Feb 8, 2019). I'm looking forward to this one!
The 1975 - Notes On A Conditional Form (May 31, 2019)

Hot Chip have been in the studio with Philippe Zdar and it's about time we get to hear the results. Nearing 4 years since the last album.

I'm hoping the Hives will have something new for us in 2019. The last album (2012) wasn't that great IMO (6.5/10) but I love all the others. Besides, it's been so long. We're about due another half hour of furious rattling guitar music.

Tender - Fear of Falling Asleep
Half the songs already released. Kind of a growing synth band I think.

So far just Our Kid. seanrulesrh is right, though: I’ve heard Damon Albarn say he’s got something he can’t talk about yet planned for next year. He doesn’t fuck about, so I guess he’ll get sommat out too. There was supposed to be a Divine Comedy double album in the works, but now Neil Hannon is doing the music for the stage version of Father Ted, so that might be some way off now.

Haven't really got past their classic albums yet. I'm not really familiar with his work in this century either, but I don't think so. Not really. When I've tried to listen to some of their stuff from this century I haven't been able to get passed how shit much of it sounds in terms of production and mixing and all that. Alright so there's too much separation on the 80s stuff, but at least you could pick things out in the mixes; everything didn't just blend into one great mush. Also, Robert's vocals (as much as I love them) have often been mixed far too loudly on their post- Wish stuff. It doesn't matter who's singing, if the vocals are that much higher in the mix than the backing track it's gonna feel hollow and completely lacking in vibe. I saw them live in late 2016, near the end of their world tour, so I know Robert's still got his wonderful voice to deploy. And his right-hand man, the bassist Simon Gallop is still there. And the keyboard player Roger O'Donnell, who helped mould their sound during their late-80s imperial phase. My only worry is for how it will sound. The fact he's been listening to a lot of new music recently is promising. You can always tell among ageing singer-songwriters from successful bands who listens to the most contemporary music: they're the ones with the best sounding new releases. Guess the first single will be crunch time. Will it be an overly compressed dirge, or something more fun and exciting? 'If I Had a Gun...' or 'The Death of You and Me'? We shall see...

Interesting...what might be good is seeing the line-up for that festival he was talking about, which bands have been spurring him back to music? He said at the time that, although he listens to a broad range of music from different nations, not all of it would be suitable for that kind of festival, so he focused in on new bands to complete his line-up. You can see the line-up here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meltdown_(festival)I don't recognise many of them, but you might. This is a show he did for Radio 6 Music, playing a song each from some of the acts (mostly the headliners): I doubt whether any of the new acts he's got into this year have influenced his writing, as he's always just done his own thing, but I hope that by listening to new records recorded and produced in a modern way he was reminded of the sounds you can get in a studio, if you put the effort in, when The Cure were in one this year.

theyknowwhatimean, looks like a decent line-up! From the ones I know, it's basically the kind of atmospheric and dark guitar bands you might expect, but good examples of them indeed. Like you said, hopefully he was inspired by the production and modern sound of them more so than their style, he doesn't really need to write like anyone other himself at this point.
