I really think 'Black & White Sunshine' should have been a single. The track is really radio friendly off the bat, straight away. The groove is really up to tempo to receive a great remix; really, it should've been made a single.

I agree it's very radio friendly. It sounds great in the car.
It could be the fifth single? I think the only reason we've not had a fifth single already is because of Noels book coming out.
I wouldn't be surprised by a fifth (and final) single in Jan/Feb. One last opportunity to milk us all with 3 versions of the vinyl!

Who cares, it's not like any of them reach the higher regions of the charts

Who cares, it's not like any of them reach the higher regions of the charts I’d be all for more singles if he actually still did proper b-sides, who cares about charts... It could be the fifth single? We’re supposed to be getting that Mike Bruce mega-video, so there is still a chance of another single (and b-side)... X

X My money is on another single start of next year (B&WS or TMWBTB) with A Simple Game Of Genius for the b-side, as we've not had a vinyl release of that song yet. Easy money for Noel!

I love this song. Such a good throwaway track, and the main riff is gorgeous.

I love this song. Such a good throwaway track, and the main riff is gorgeous. It's one of those growers that you didn't regard highly at first and that you only fully appreciate after you've 'overlistened' the obvious bangers. Most R.E.M. albums are full of such songs. Which kind of closes the (perfect) circle, since the main riff is pure Peter Buck anyway and it speaks for WBTM as an album experience. For the same reasons I don't think B&WS would be a radio suitable single, its just not immediate enough and its parts (verse/double chorus basically) just take too long to take off and I can't see it being edited in a reasonable manner.

Wouldn't seem out of place in the SOTSOG era.

oasis fans living in the past like singles actually matter or are going to do anything. it's not 1996.
Any oasis related single today doesn't even move the needle.

Always felt the transitions between verse & chorus etc felt extremely awkward and the chorus itself being a bit too limp to give the track the needed payoff.
For these reasons it's worst track on the album (not counting interludes) and nowhere near single material imo.

The transition from the chorus back into the verse felt a little awkward to me at first, but now that works too.

oasis fans living in the past like singles actually matter or are going to do anything. it's not 1996. Any oasis related single today doesn't even move the needle. This is a very simplistic view point. In the internet / streaming era there is still a point to singles: to promote an album before it comes out, to promote the album to casual fans even after it has been out for months, to promote a tour announcement etc. Liam’s stream of singles from AYW being good examples of all the above. No b-sides at all, so no real use to hardcore fans, but they still got radio play, news coverage and kept the general public interested. For me personally Noel singles only “matter” now if they deliver a new song. Which unfortunately they don’t. Which would be fine and not bother me if it wasn’t for Noel always giving it the billy big bollocks of “I write loads of songs all the time”, “I’ve been tinkering with the AA album again”, “I could do two albums” etc. Fookin’ prove it then, you’re not getting any younger! X

Best track title on the album for sure... but at this point there is no need to release another single unless it comes with his smashing 'Jingle Bells' take for the holidays.

Decent tune, but a bit too latter day Noel for my liking and nothing surprising at all.
It also doesn’t really sound like a David’s Holmes production, more like something of the first two. Was he involved in the recording of this tune?

Really like this song. For me it's the start of the best 3 songs on the album (not counting the misplaced interlude) and its in order of 3, 2, 1. Great finish to the album .

Really wish Noel kept the interludes as one 4 minute track. I dig the sounds and atmosphere. Feels like someone from Gorillaz should be rapping on it or something in a low key manner. Noel does weird shit with running order on his albums.

From this point on though, I predict this:
THE MAN WHO BUILT THE MOON - SINGLE 1) The Man Who Built the Moon (Album Version) 2) The Man Who Built the Moon (Radio Edit) 3) The Man Who Built the Moon (Instrumental) 4) If Love is The Law (Demo)
