Heavy Soul – Part 1, Peacock Suit, Up In Suzes’ Room – Heavy Soul (Paul Weller) Agreed! Love the title track; I think it's one of Weller's most ragged recordings ever. Then you've got 'Peacock Suit', a great single which deservingly did well for him in the charts. And then 'Up in Suze's Room', which is surely one of his best solo songs. I can see why Heavy Soul often gets forgotten about, following the multi-platinum selling Stanley Road, but think that's slightly unfair. It deserves to be remembered from these opening tracks alone. And 'Science', of course. Perhaps the only three-song sequence that rivals the above tunes in his solo career is the one that opens Wild Wood, 'Sunflower' / 'Can You Heal Us (Holy Man)?' / 'Wild Wood'? Heavy Soul is my second favourite Weller album (first one is Stanley Road of course). Really love the title song and this song and following 2 songs (Peacock Suit and Up In Suzes'Room) flows very well. "It deserves to be remembered from these opening tracks alone. And 'Science', of course. "^ Can't agree more! Perhaps the only three-song sequence that rivals the above tunes in his solo career is the one that opens Wild Wood, 'Sunflower' / 'Can You Heal Us (Holy Man)?' / 'Wild Wood'? [/quote][/b] Good one! He played "Science" when I saw him at North Sea Jazz Festival in 2006. and drums played by Alan White. What about Into Tomorrow, Amongst Butterflies, The Strange Museum (Paul Weller)? I would add "Porcelain Gods" and "I Walk On Gilded Splinters" (Stanley Road), but it won't work as the third track is You Do Something To Me.

Yellow Magic Orchestra's 1979 classic Solid State Survivor opens with this knockout trio:
Technopolis (Sakamoto) / Absolute Ego Dance (Hosono) / Rydeen (Takahashi)
Incredible songs all 3 and rank among their respective composer's very best output.

15 Step - Bodysnatchers - Nude I'm all for Nude - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - All I Need. The second half of In Rainbows isn't too bad either. Stunning album, just 10 brilliant songs perfectly fitting and sequnced together. Also thought about choosing the best Beatles sequences (my -not so creative- favourite being Taxman-Eleanor Rigby-I'm Only Sleeping) but you could basically pick and justify any sequence from Rubber Soul onwards. Apart from Let It Be of course.

Is Roll With it / Wonderwall / Don't Look Back in Anger the most iconic trio of British rock singles ever laid back-to-back-to-back?

Sunday Morning / I'm Waiting for the Man / Femme Fatale The Velvet Underground Adult Diversion / Archie, Marry Me / Ones Who Love You Alvvays All your selections are pretty brilliant, but these two stuck out to me, and they're right next to each other. Velvet Underground Alvvays...

El Scorcho/ Pink Triangle / Falling For You(Weezer's Pinkerton)
I Feel You / Walking in My Shoes /Condemnation(Depeche Mode's Music of Faith & Devotion)
Tolerate / You Stole The Sun... /Ready For Drowning(Manics' This is My Truth, Tell Me Tours) You could argue Be Natural/Black Dog on My Shoulder/ Nobody Loved You is more eclectic and interesting to listen to than the hits+Drowning
Dosed / Don't Forget Me / The Zephyr Song(RHCP's By The Way)
Next Girl / Tighten Up / Howlin' for You(Black Keys' Brothers)

Lullaby / Fascination Street / Prayers for Rain from Disintegration by The Cure (1989) You could make another great trio of songs just after it, with 'The Same Deep Water As You', 'Disintegration', and 'Homesick'. If it was just for 'Plainsong' and its singles Disintegration would be a great album, but those extended mood pieces near the end are what move it into the territory of "masterpiece" for me. ... Keeping it with The Cure, what about: 'Dressing Up' / 'The Caterpillar' / 'Piggy in the Mirror' from The Top [1984] I think each of these tracks are magic. All wonderfully weird and yet different enough from one another in tone and vibe to make them fun to listen to in sequence as well in isolation.
