In what world has Noel had a good enough album or tour to be considered the best solo artist? I know these awards are about everything but who they actually think should be awarded, but even so thats pushing it a bit.

Haha, or maybe Q realised having Noel turn up and say something about Liam is the only way the awards can get any coverage. Maybe. Or maybe Liam Gallagher fans aren't quite the arbiters of good music as they think themselves to be.

Never mind Noel, in what world is Paul Weller the best act in the world today? He's had a very productive last 10 years. 6 studio albums, all of which have been reviewed positively. And a soundtrack to a film. And an EP, and some B-sides and non-album singles on top of that. But, yeah, they should probably be giving those kind of things out to 20-30 somethings, who are in the midst of making their most vital music, rather than geezers who've been going 40+ years. They should have given him Best Solo Act instead. He's more deserving of it than our Noel, who's only about half as good as he could be if he wasn't such a lazy arse. I completely agree with everything you said.

He doesn´t know how would he called his island.. We would get some brilliant answer from Noel few years back but now he doesn´t know... :-)
I´m just not used to hear Noel saying ´Í don´t know´´when he is asked question like that. Fucking hell, fuck getting older..

The album isn't everybody's taste, I get it. Live, he's nailed it. The band have nailed it. And it shits over Liam musically (and that's not a slate against Liam for what Liam is, btw). I can say that with some certainty and conviction, given I've seen them both live three times in the last 14 months. That Tramlines gig Noel did is hands down the best Gallagher-related concert I've been to. Agreed! If Liam and Noel reunited it'd be a big downgrade for noel.liam just isn't enjoyable to listen to anymore in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing Liam at every show. He's brilliant at what he does. At Finsbury, everything was great in terms of the atmosphere etc and that's what Liam creates. That's special and shouldn't ever be looked down on because hardly anybody can create that type of vibe. But the band - while they definitely got better - still sound weak and out of sorts. Everything's so straight and down the line and I just look at the band that Noel's got now and they can't be compared. I don't think Liam's voice is bad. It's better than it has been in 10-15 years, that's for sure. But as a live act I just think the best thing about it is everything but the music (i.e. the party vibe, the aura that Liam has). With Noel, it's probably the other way round to an extent, but on that last gig I saw back in July he had the vibe as well (the crowd were great) and he was clearly up for it. Whether Noel should have won the best solo artist is clearly down to opinion. Based on the Q awards history, he was always gonna be in with a good chance, let's face it. A Gallagher can probably guarantee an award whenever they get nominated.

You're very much in the minority if you think Noels album was better than Liams. Just because there's a few different sounds on there doesnt make his songs any better. On that logic, Ed Sheerhan is the best live act in the world. And also, the album thing is entirely down to opinion. I like Liam's album. I like Noel's more. They've both got their good and bad points. I prefer going to see Noel for the musicianship. I like that he's changing how he plays and the band are developing with him. I prefer that to seeing Jay butcher Rock N Roll Star every single fucking time.

That would require 20 or 30 somethings to actually be half-decent, though. And there about three bands/artists I can think of in that bracket that are. Arctic Monkeys probably deserved something. Like 'going completely west at the biggest stage of their career' award, because they are the biggest guitar (piano) contemporary band about atm.

Liam’s old too. Last year’s photos of Liam with Skepta and Ed Sheeran showed him with younger musicians. This year, Noel at 51 is the youngest in that set of photos. Says something about Q Magazine and it’s readers.

I see another thread has gone Liam vs Noel Anyway, here's Noel's interview: Nice interview. I liked the “What was the inspiration for your new song” bit. You can see him thinking “I can’t say ‘the demo I nicked from Garry Cobain’” before blurting our “a drum machine” haha. Joking aside, good to hear he’s been writing a bit. I’m hoping they’re relaxing the only writing in the studio rule for album #4 and get it out quicker. Or he makes good on his “I’ll probably have to make another one alongside it in the more traditional sense” claim. X

Not Q award related, because other than Robbie understanding the letter Q they’re pretty pointless, but I always thought it’d be funny if Noel was presenting a Brit and someone turned to him and said “has beens shouldn’t be presenting awards to gonna bees”
Noel’d have to retire after that tbh
