So instagram is telling me its been a year since AYW came out. So what are your thoughts a year later?
I listen to it about once or twice a month and everytime it sounds fresh and new. Not sick of it whatsoever. I've All I Need and Bold are two of my favourite post-Oasis songs and honestly these would likely crack my top 10 post-2000 Oasis songs list too.
IDHTBTW may actually be my fave. It shocked a lot of people but it showed me Liam can work with a modern sound. I love Tame Impala and this seems like an ode to them. I would love to hear more of this going forward from Liam.
The middle part of the album is where I feel it is the weakest. I wouldn't say there are any true clunkers, but there are a coupke there that while I don't skip, I do tune them out slightly, waiting for the big finish to the album.
Liam's voice shows it can elevate songs as its own powerful instrument, exemplified by a song like INWBLY, which would essentially be a throwaway track, but honestly for me it is not at all due to the quality of Liam's voice. The swervin you part is something only Liam can accomplish (not vocally, anyone can hit that, but through its Liamish delivery), its incredible.
I thought it would bug me that he got so much help, but I'm over that. The album delivered solid nostalgic Liam tunes, with a bit of modernity as well.
Awesome album, would easily rank it 4 or 5 in the Oasis catelogue, can't wait for the next one.

Great album, still listen to it now. Bold is by far the best song Liam’s ever written, I’ve all I need is beaut, greedy soul is a cracker of a live tune, IDHTBTW blew me away- wasn’t expecting Liam to do anything like that. I never wanna be like you is also one of my faves, a lovely little tune tbh. Come back to me is another stomper, overall no tune on there that I would call absolute shite so deffos a nice 9/10

I don´t why but for me it seems like it was 5 years ago. I feel like that Liam was always that successful solo artists, him in BDI and Oasis seems to me like it was centuries ago or in some other dimension.

In terms of its quality after a year, id still rate it a solid 7.5/10. It did everything we wanted the two Beady Eye albums to deliver. Very good songs, at times great production, at times just safe.
I think its the latter that bugs me about the album and stops me from calling it an 8 or 9. They were too middle of the road with the production of Greedy Soul, You Bettee Run and I Get By. That semi acoustic sound is far too prevelant. Cant believe they didnt make Greedy Soul like it is live. Someone should have had the balls to say these few songs sound too similar and mix it up. Understand they needed to be pretty safe this time around but giving one song a heavier song isnt going to be a risk to the album.
So id say a solid album, ultimately the album we needed to get this great man back where he belonged.
Personally (as ive alluded to elsewhere) i still wish he would have at least some solid input on all the songs for the album because hes good enough for that. What cannot happen is just another AYW part 2 to come out with safe songs and safe production. That wont sell well and we could be back at square one. I want to see proper progression and more modern forward thinking production.

Still my least favorite Oasis related release ever.
Come Back To Me, Universal Gleam and Greedy Soul are top though. Also Chinatowns chorus.

Overall a solid effort... the middle bit can be slog. I don't listen to much of it anymore.
