Rule: You list your ONE most favorite song from any of the bands you like. Include listing the band's name and song name, along with the YouTube link (see my example below).
The Hold Steady - Chillout Tent
Fucking love the Hold Steady, and I can relate to Chillout Tent in so many ways, fucking brilliance. It's not their best track (although it's up there) but it's my favorite of theirs regardless.

Good idea this, tough choice but was listening to this one by R.E.M. yesterday and decided there and then it was my favourite of theirs - definitely opened the floodgates to becoming a hardcore fan of this band. That three way harmony between Stipe, Berry and Mills is amazing.

Very few songs feel artistically complete but this one just has it all: the disturbing and melancholic lyrics, tight programmed beats, 2 parallel bass lines from Hooky plus the sequenced synth one, that house-style piano etc. Best part is around 3:30, a few bars of nothing but synth magic until it kicks off again.
Also their best album!

Big Star - Nightime
Choosing a favourite Big Star song is quite a difficult task. I could've gone with the no less gorgeous "September Gurls", "Thank You Friends", "The Ballad of El Goodo", "My Life Is Right", "What's Going Ahn", "I'm In Love With A Girl", etc. But for me, it's "Nightime", track 9 of the poignant masterpiece "Third /Sister Lovers", that hits the harder.
Another proof that Big Star might be the most criminally underrated band in the history of rock music.

The Great Escape by The Rifles.
This song is a perfect example of what The Rifles are. How can anybody dislike a song like this?

Like at least maybe 50% of their songs it's a song about doing drugs n stuff, but it also serves as a metaphor for something else probably. Also one of the tightest songs I've ever heard thanks to top performances from NY's elite session players, and Mark Knopfler is somewhere in the mix too.

Teenage Fanclub- Alcholiday
Have many a great song from Bandwagonesque but this one I always go back to. Just gives you a warm feeling and shows you why Fanclub are one of the sadly most underrated British bands.

The Sea is a Good Place to Think About the Future - Los Campesinos!
Los Campesinos, what a band mate. How can you just pick ONE? Well, alas, I have done just that. Incredible track.

REIGN OF LOVE by COLDPLAY
It's a weird pick, this one, because really speaking I consider Yellow the best Coldplay song, but there's just something so utterly and completely beautiful about this one that it stops me in my tracks whenever I hear it. Those distant, crystallised guitars, the rolling piano...it makes me feel like I'm sat in some misty Scottish valley in the 1700's. Martin's lyrics are on fine romantic form too, the images of being lifted up with locusts, waiting by churches, and offering your worries to the sea have a mystical beauty to them which I adore. Viva la Vida is a lock-in in my top five albums of all time, and this is the song I want played at my wedding.

First song I fell in love with this band and 11 years later they're still my number 1 favourite band. Scottish treasure. Can't wait to see them again next month!
A song from my most favourite albums in 2007. It still hurts, Scott!
Underrated song by The National from days when they weren't well known and one of my favourites:
An another Scottish treasur:
I'm very proud to discovered this band and being at their first gig in The Netherlands in 2010. Still brilliant.
