I'm 40, and I was 14 when Nevermind came out - I was too young to fully understand how great it was.....and, I won't listen to anyone younger who dismisses it.....you might not like it, but it's the most influential album in the last 40 years, including influencing the band who this forum's dedicated to....

Smells Like Teen Spirit was like a reaper. It cleared out all the cheesy metal bands and power pop of the late 80s, very early 90s in one full swoop. It was rather break taking when looking back. The power of that one song and video. A proper cleansing. Yeah. Agreed. i know it's uncool. But find me one person who doesn't absolutely love that song |

All the songs off Nevermind are terrific but I've always had a soft spot for Lounge Act and Breed.
Off In Utero, Serve the Servants and Dumb are my favourites but this is definitely an album where the whole is greater than the sun of it's parts. Some tracks on here may not be much on their own but they all make the album the dark and tortured masterpiece that it is.
I'm not too big on the first album but I like About a Girl, School, and Love Buzz.
And as it's been said already, one of their best songs is a b-side: Aneurysm

Nirvana is far from Oasis. A different group of fans and musical sense, but the common is The Beatles. Nirvana was full of emotion, gritty or raw sounding, high sarcasm, and energy. They weren't about stadiums or say they were the biggest. They just were and sudden. Kurt ran to fame and hated it. Everyone talks about the Unplugged performance. Trick or Treat show or now is known as Nirvana Live at The Paramount for me, that's the best and purest Nirvana experienced taped.
