We all know that All Around the World was one of Noel's first written songs. Being the visionary that he is, Noel and Oasis would rehearse the song as early as 1992 with the aspiration of including it on Oasis' third album when they even hadn't recorded their first. Yes, Noel can be shrewd at times.
But did the song reach its potential?
Of course it's a ridiculous piece of nine-and-half minutes (9 mins 21s to be precise) of music, perfectly fitting on Oasis' third overblown album (Be Here Now) as Noel promised all those year prior.
Noel clearly held this track in high regard. And it was always destined to be caked in cocaine and garnished with pure and utter self-indulgence. A Beatles rip-off in many ways, including the music video reminiscent of their 1960s counterparts' Yellow Submarine.
The song really couldn't be any bigger sonically. And it charted as a UK #1, and still holds the record of longest (in terms of song length) number one of all time in the UK.
Did the song reach its potential, and was it worthy of the immediate acclaim from fans and critics alike? All this especially considering that today not many (if any at all) Oasis fans would even consider All Around the World in their Top 20 most favorite Oasis songs. The questions remain.

I feel for anyone who never got to hear it live.

I feel for anyone who never got to hear it live. GMEX performance is pure quality. But on the whole I'd rather not have it in the setlist - it's really only a song that coked up Oasis from the latter half of the 1990s could pull off.

Nope. It’s great but compared to truly perfect pop songs like Wonderwall or DLBIA, the fat really shows. That guitar solo needs to go, some choruses need to be shortened, and the outro has this whole unnecessary bit in the middle. It’s a shame cos all of the important melodies in it are genuinely killer.

The first four minutes are pure perfection, the rest is pure madness.

It's perfect as it is to me. I don't feel it drags on at all. If anything, you never want the song to end. I really would have loved to hear this live.
I think Oasis could have done a greater shorter (7 min?) version of it during the DOYS tour, would have pulled it off nicely in that tour.

I love it. It's just mixed badly, along with everything else on Be Here Now. Dammit, Noel, why couldn't you leave it well alone? You can't do everything!

A 3 minute pop song turned into a 9 minute epic. Only, Noel didn't actually write anything else for the other 6 minutes.
Still love the na na na bit though.

It's great in it's current form. But I find a lot of the embellishments awful and the outro is far too long.
I would have liked the intro guitar to be electric, using a similar tone to how they played Wonderwall live in the 2000's, then built up full band but sounding rawer like the live version. It sounds too clean and soft and pompous as it is. I like the over production on BHN when it's rocking but I hate it on songs like Magic Pie/Girl In The Dirty Shirt/AATW when it just sounds overly polished/flamboyant but in a really tasteless way.
AATW would have probably been good as a SOTSOG song to be honest.

I like the chaotic nature of the last 6 minutes, incredible how they just let themselves go for more 6 minutes of pure nonsense sound, the orchestra, the na na nas, pigs don't fly... I love how both Noel and Liam sing their respective na na na's in their own tempo, not giving a fuck at being in sync. And the song actually doesn't end, there is a fade out, I like to think that the song is still being played somewhere.
