As a big Led Zeppelin fan myself, I've often wondered about when Noel did the Whole Lotta Love/Heartbreaker riff at the end of C&A.
Was it just something he threw in, or has Noel ever spoke about Zeppelin in any way? I know he was at their reunion show at the 02. With other bands like the Beatles, Stones etc, we all know how much they respect them, but I've never really heard Noel mention Zep tbh.
Or did he just pick up the riffs and added them off the cuff.

I don't know anything about Noel's reference for Zeppelin, but he played "I Walk On guilded Splinter" by Dr. John during early Oasis soundcheck and remember his legendary guitar outro for Champagne Supernova at Budokan 1998, he did has Jimmy Page moment now and then.

He must be something of a fan as he knew that John Bonham held his drumsticks differently to Mitch Mitchell in the Ten Years of Noise and Confusion documentary. EDIT: I also seem to recall him saying he wanted Champagne Supernova to be like the Britpop generation's Stairway to Heaven

Paolo Hewitt's book 'Forever The People' (from the BHN tour) goes into some detail about this. Late 1997/early 1998, Noel was massively into Led Zep. I'm sure he was before, but during this time he was actively listening to them on tour constantly, according to the book. This came into full flourish with his guitar playing on that tour, especially in the US/Asia/South America legs, and when Cigarettes & Alcohol was played towards the end of the BHN tour, that's when they started playing the Whole Lotta Love/Heartbreaker riff.

That's excellent. Thanks very much.

I remember in late 1998, early 1999, Noel was talking up Led Zeppelin a lot. I even remember reading an article online at the time how Noel bought a double neck guitar like Jimmy Page but later returned it because he looked like an asshole using it. Does anyone remember these articles? ContactMusic.com reported it. Or something like that.

I’m pretty sure Fuckin in the Bushes is inspired by Led Zeppelin

Does anyone remember these articles? Yes I definitely remember that. The other big zeppelin moment was when Noel first talked about Record Machine in late 2002 as being an 8 mins led zeppelin type song, I think.

Also, I remember him saying that Gas Panic! was inspired by led zeppelin (or that it was a zep type of song).
