After watching Noel’s biggest weekend show I have decided that Gem sounds more authentically Oasis than anyone else in either Noel’s or Liam’s band. Gem Archer is carrying the torch for us all. Viva le Gem!

Very glad he's made a full recovery, I saw him perform an acoustic set with Noel in 2015 (before Gem joined HFB) which was wicked. Most talented musician ever to play with Oasis?

Have they been seen together in the same room? I don't think so. The logical conclusion of this is that Noel wanted Meg to join the band in 1999 but Liam wouldn't allow it, so Noel paid for Meg to have plastic surgery in order to look like a young Paul McCartney and change her name to Gem. She even kept the pronunciation of the G sound the same! How did Liam never spot this?  |

Don’t give a toss if he’s more ‘technically gifted’ or whatever, much of the raw, DIY punk ethos of Oasis was lost once Bonehead and Guigsy left. They were merely replaced by something a lot tamer. Give me barre chords turned up to 11 over anything from Gem. |

I agree that Bonehead is the spirit of the original line up. My love for Gem comes from the fact that when he plays the solos in Noel’s current line up, it sounds like proper Oasis. He still has that distinctive SOTSOG and later album style. He hasn’t changed those solos into something else, something more muted or less guitar-hero like Noel sometimes does. And he obviously doesn’t fuck them all up by leaving out half the notes like Jay does with the songs he plays for Liam. I appreciate that Mike really tries to play the Oasis songs properly and he does a good job but I don’t think he’s quite in Noel’s or Gem’s level yet. Probably just because he naturally has a different style.
I get the vibe from Noel that he wants to move past the “rock guitar solo guy”. Maybe because it’s out of fashion and modern pop music doesn’t care about guitars. But I miss that part of him and Gem fills that void a bit
