Anyway, it's clearly all water under the bridge. It was at the time a daft thing to say whether he actually meant to say it like it came across or not. He named himself, Johnny Marr and Paul Weller as the only people who write their own songs 🙄 and Ashcroft in a list of people who have songwriters, he knew what he was implying Like I say, it's probs one of the only times I've been taken aback by what Noel said, but Ashcroft seems past it now so it's all good |

Weller writes with other people, Marr’s best work was written in collaboration. So not sure what point Noel is getting at.
Noel gripes as if it threatens the ‘artistic credibility’ of the singer. Why? Liam’s a performer, not an artist or songwriter. Give him the tools and he’s the best at getting the most out of it. That’s all we want from Liam, and as decent as he can be at writing songs, that’s not his strength. I don’t look to Liam for artistic credibility, all I want is him singing great tunes.
