They are one of a very small handful of bands who absolutely hit you with their power. I can't think of many other bands (other than Stones/Zeppelin/Beatles) whos music is that powerful. Fuckin incredible.

The way that they changed the actual culture around them between 1994 and 1996- Rock City 1994 was full of kids who knew the songs but had long hair, loon pants and 'Ned's Atomic Dustbin' or 'Wonder Stuff' t-shirts on, and by Earls Court and the massive summer of 1996 shows it had changed to Liam lookalikes and short hair cuts for the boys, and ladette or made up looks for the girls who all spoke the Oasis vernacular regardless of their own accents.

How they appear with a song like Live Forever when Nirvana and the grunge scene was up there Couldn't agree more! I like that even though (the most well-known members of) Oasis and Nirvana went through similarly troubled home lives, their music and ethos turned out so completely different. Nirvana was nihilistic and cynical. Oasis, for the most part, somehow managed to maintain an undercurrent of optimism. For me, the best thing about Oasis is that it's literally an oasis. Its music takes me to peaceful, safe place away from the rest of the world.

When you listen to Oasis music and you just feel so completely understood, without explanation or justification or words at all. Oasis music gives voice to the complex noises within.
