I'd rather focus on "The new stuff is more for the ladies" I hate this type of music and I'm sure many Oasis and Noel female fans would rather listen to the old stuff than this cosmic pop shit. I'm already bored with the album, the only tracks I listen to are TMWBTM and Dead in the Water just my 2 cents

It's quite a silly assumption. That despite the fact that the majority of oasis' following is... Well... Male...

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/noel-gallagher-new-album-tour-14499559 Noel Gallagher is planning TWO new albums - including another under the guidance of current producer David Holmes. Gallagher appears on Beats 1 with Metallica's Lars Ulrich this weekend - where he also opens up about brother Liam, Oasis songs and leaving the band for good. Noel says he's got 'plenty of material' under his belt - enough for two albums, made in different ways. "I’ve got a whole backlog of songs, I write all the time so I’ve got plenty of material," he said. "I’m going to make another record with David [Holmes, producer of ‘Who Built the Moon?’] in this way but the last one took four years so I’ll probably have to make another one alongside it in the more traditional sense." Noel also said he effectively helped launch Liam's songwriting career - because he became 'burnt out' towards the end of Oasis. "Looking back on it now, I think I’d fallen slightly out of love with songwriting and I encouraged everybody to contribute because we were a band after all," he said. "To keep writing every 18 months to two years 16-18 songs on your own, it burnt me out. Some good stuff came out of it, it gave Liam a launch as a songwriter and all that which is good for him…And it gave the band a longer shelf life." Is it just me or does he contradict himself? It can be seen like that, but he hasn't released anything more than the álbum and the japanese bonus tracks this time around. So he must have like 4 years of material hanging to cherypick the best ones for the next 'traditional album'. He's also talking of two different times, one more stresful than the other.

Well, I honestly can't see a contradiction. One thing is to *have* to keep writing songs *that suit the style of the band* every 2 years. Writing to please yourself and have ideas floating about that may suit a certain style or not and that may become fully formed, or not after 3 or more years is a bit different. That's the way I look at it, at least.

Is it just me or does he contradict himself? Does he ever not contradict himself? Wheres the contradiction? in Oasis last years he wrote less and less, and now on his solo career hes writing all the time. having said that - repeating the one i love with C and G chords X100 times, is not really writing.

I hate this type of music and I'm sure many Oasis and Noel female fans would rather listen to the old stuff than this cosmic pop shit. Nothing that much cosmic about "Who built the moon?" anyway, it's not "The piper at the gates of dawn" by any means.

I think he meant he had to write songs for Oasis, because they were on schedule, as now he's just writing coz he enjoys it. I listened to the podcast and it made sense really.

Thanks for posting! Not sure what this tooth picker thing is about but other than that Lars seems like a really nice, humble guy and an engaging interviewer

Could listen to them for an hour. Obviously they getting along very well with each other and some nice bits in there. I knew that Lars is a huge Oasis fan since their first US tour and a mate of Noel for quite a long time. Seems like a nice dude.
